We've all seen the pics of the CGs alone, so here they are on a watch and 3D

The Seadbo is a great budget CG, but in terms of accuracy to a Pre-V or H~series onwards, the thickness of the CG from the top down for the CG pin is too thin. From the side it's too thin, but a nice shape.

BTW, the DSN is sort of correct for a B-series Ti CG, just a little thick

Interesting, it doesn't appear to have the "too high crown position" that his old cases used to, nor the too tall/steep bezel. Is that the case, or is it just tricks of the photos?

Hmmmmm, I have one of Simon's new 001/004/040 Pre-A dials on order, this might make an excellent 040 project.....

Thanks, unreg!

Treasure that top case on the first two photos, old-school EL, with correct lug shape and no cutouts between the lugs.

The other two I couldn't care less about, sorry ;-)

that is a little hero case, so lh is using el's case??

Possibly the same factory/supplier or NOS stock still available...?

That's by far the closest Pam rep case for Vendome/Richemont series, IMO. I have number of EL cases (same as Honpo and River cases from '06) and they're identical from the angles shown.

Remember, EL didn't manufacture those cases and reps he was famous for, he just had a link thru his Hong Kong contact to one of the Guangzhou factories making those. I quizzed him number of times about this in the past, although very cagey guy he was, he'd sometimes spill a bean or two ;-)

Sead sent me a CG for my 029 and the screw holes are way too close. The fit is horrible and if I round the edges to fit the CG will not be deep enough to fully pull out the stem to the set position.
Three emails and three PM's on RG and no response.
How do you suggest for my next CG?
BTW, I've always had great service from Sead but it was always me pay and him ship.
Thanks for the help.

babola, for that you are incorrect.

Again I am mystified by the veneration people give to EL products. He was just a dealer who at times managed to secure well made reps, other dealers also had access and it depends on whether they sold them or not.

Anyhow, that is an LH caseset.

Next choice for your Jim is to probably go LH if it's accurate to the 029 depending on series. If not, you can try Torobravo, but you'll meet similar issues.

This is exactly what I said, read my post once again...;-)

LH caseset...unless he's making his own one like it was the case with JimmyFu who has his own gen caseset replicated by a completely different maker (now out of business), then he's sourcing them from a factory, which one I'm not sure about, but most likely the one that made those good ones in the past.

How much do we really know about LH's sources. I mean really ?

So, Sead finally responded and told me there isn't an improved CG for the 29.
I'll contact LH. I've got an old dial relumed by Vac and a 2983 ready to fit so I would like a correct CG. To me, the CG is an annoying flaw.
Thanks for the suggestion and i'm "all ears" to more thoughts.

Well a Hero CG will be incorrect for your 029, at any rate, regardless of fit. It has the curved top like the current Historic models or the Pre-V pieces. Your 029 would have a "standard" rep CG style (A-D series style) with the flat top.

That's correct, the last standard edition 029 was made in B-series, 5 years before the first 'thick' crown was made by Panerai under Richemont.

I haven't seen the real-life photos of the latest re-issue of Special Edition 029, although my guess is it will have come with the thinner polished CG version like the original from '98/'99.
