Hey... whoever started that thread, it should not be there in the first place. I am pretty upset seeing it. Don't let the other side know about us  Anyway... one cyber name posted that power reserve is 24 hours if we are luckyyyyyy.... damn... I bet he doesn't know that davidsen's CN movement can beat the real OP movement (not the 8 days of course). 60 hours plus of ticking watch vs 40 hours +.

thats just funny.

I love watching people put down reps mainly because they are upset of their prices and accuracy.

Most of the are so ignorant to the facts.

One guy even says it has a bout a 20 hr power reserve, ohh how funny...

One day i'll meet one of these idiots face to face and, as we in the online gaming world say, he will be ownd.

Maybe we should send a representative to post a reply them MFs to make a bet our power reserve can easily outlast their Gen movt.

Loser loses the watch.... they can smash our watch to shit if we lose but we'll walky walky away with their Gen.... heh heh heh...

By the way being a Gen Pam owner, i despise people like em MFs. I cant see their reasoning the way they have so much hatred for reps owners..

Thats why i've stopped attending the GTGs they organise. They talk nutting but crap and are a totally bunch of blind Fucks.

Afterall Panerai is using UNITAS. Whats great is the design n history, not the movt.
And design i can understand but history? HOW MANY actually FEEL the ESSENCE of the history of the watch to adore it so much???
Well unitas is not invented by Officine Panerai so for them to use that movt isn't it a 'rep' in some form????

We shall stop bashing the gen owner who has little knowledge about rep too... It's like we are living in our own world and so are they. Leave them and they will leave us. Good or not, your choice.

I especially love the part about rep buyers buying watches to make a (false) statement about themselves and that the gen buyers buy 'em becuase they "admire the history", etc.

Bullshit. I'm sorry, you buy a $4K watch for a reason, to make a statement. Why not buy a Tissot then? They've been around since the late 1800s, Swiss Made, Swiss heritage, etc. Because they don't cost as much that's why.

90% of luxury watch buyers do so in order to make a statement. It's the male equivalent of a 1+ carat diamond ring. Like it or not, that's the truth for the vast majority of people buying watches in this price range.

Sorry for the rant.

You must not own any gens. Every gen owner I know carries a printed history of the watch they are wearing that day. If anyone ever makes a comment about the watch, that person is forced at gun point to read the full history that very second.

I was out with a buddy who was wearing a VC and someone made a comment.....we were sitting there for 2 and a half hours while the poor guy read the full history of the company and each employee.

Seriously, gens are great and it would be wonderful if everyone could afford all the watches they liked, but it just can't be. So some of us get gens and some of get reps. The reps are reps and that is all they will ever be. We like them for their style and the name on the dial; pretty much the same reason that gen owners like theirs. We just don't get the full printed history in hardback when we buy a rep. :D

I love how in one post they say how much the gens hold their value, and in the next breath they say that you can get very good deals on gens. You can't have it both ways... If your getting a good deal someone is taking a bath on it. There are very few gen watches that go up significantly in value in relation to the number that decrease (especially if you are purchasing your gen new). Subtract the obscene amount panerai charges for your first servicing and you've lost most if not all of the gain in value.

drm, find someone with a swiss unitas and it will last an easy 60 to 80 hrs.

my old 111h held a reserve for an easy 70hrs on full wind.

my 177h has a good 60ish .

honostly speaking I have been to ad's and held gens and eventually I will grab one or three but right now I'm not feeling the whole gen pam scence, bunch of assholes.

rep community is so much better (=

If our reps breaks down, it takes(i think) 1-2weeks to service?? Or maybe even less!! :)

My Gen took 2.5MONTHS to come back from a NORMAL SERVICING!! And 300USD for that!!

But i do love my Pams both Gen and Rep but thats the price to pay for a Gen i dont complain but the waiting part is atrocious.
Many Gen owners have their watches back with lots of scratches and some pretty horrifying stories!!

:)

Really? Most of the gen owners (non WIS) that I know buy Rolex because everyone will recognize it and be impressed they can afford a $5K watch.

Again, I'm just not buying the "I buy it for the history" bit. Would everyone love Panerai as much if they were $500/ea. No way. It's a status symbol, end of story. Just like a BMW or MB or Aston Martin. That doesn't mean that they don't like their gens for all the reasons that we like the reps, style, uniqueness, etc. But to say that status doesn't play into it at all is crap.

Fine, then go buy a $3K Grand Seiko (arguably in the same ballpark for quality, fit/finish, etc.) and listen to people sneer at you for spending $3K on a Seiko.

They're buying the brand.

I see the values in some gens, take the omega coaxial movement watches, excellent value for an outstanding movement... But I do not see that value in a unitas pam for sure.

It is really Sad to see that some People think they are superior, Just becuase they spend up to 10x the amount of money on A steel Piece of timemesurer, And take the right(!?) to Kick downwards at the "Ilegal Fakers" who "Don't work hard enough to buy the real stuff" Or A other frequent PANERISTI Quote; "I would never lower my self to buy A Fake"!?

If they studied their watch History A little they would find out that The Big names in Haute Horlogerie Are the biggest Replicators!
Radiomir = 1930's Copy of the 1920's Oyster. with A Rolex movement copied from Cortebért.
OFFICINE PANERAI/ RICHMONT GROUP, Since 1990's Re-editioning = Replicating The classics from the Original OFFICINE PANERAI 1860-1980, And they do so very poorly with standard movements Like ETA(=Unitas copy) or Valjoux that they even give misleading names like "OPX, XI As if Manefectured in House!

If indeed they can claim they are 'superior' who do they think they are superior too?
Please let's pay No more attention to these 'Eliterian' Mans-Jewellery Groupies, That is Just exactly what they want :!:

"PANERISTI"
"Watch-Faschisti"?

Ok, Ok, Considering If they would offer me A vintage 1930's 3646 Radiomir, I might be tempted to join their Superior Materialistic Cult!
For now I am happy with my 10 times cheaper 'Fake' (Not Ilegal in my Country!)
