Hi all !

When I look at trusted sellers (according to the forum)I sometimes come across vintages, that's what I'm looking for with an aquanaut PP.
I came across this Rolex sale from a reliable supplier according to the forum. What do you think ?
The price of the watch and other vintage watches are low compared to modern models (GMT Master II, dayto 2016, etc ...) which can cost 50.75 or even 100% more! it worries me.

Could I be trusted?
Are the materials easier to reproduce? I'm new to this business, please be indulgent. If you have any recommendations from good vintage suppliers, don't hesitate!

thank you for everything

The BP isn’t the most accurate in terms of comparison to gen, and some features can’t be modded to get there (think they will take a gen dial but it will always sit too low/ case is too thick etc.). The 2813 is considered a cheaper movement . But, if you just like the look, or can’t budget for a more expensive 1675, then I’ve seen amazing things done with it.

The BP 1675 is a fine little watch, like all BPs - and other so-called “cartel” vintage Rolies. They are great for anyone starting out - as a decent instantly wearable watch, or the perfect starting point for a budding modder.

The BP dial benefits from some light modding - the lume plots are stuck-on shapes, instead of being painted onto the dial. That aside, it’s a nice dial (as BP dials usually are).

Check out NCRich’s guides to modding cartel Rolex. Find any of his posts on RWG.bz - his sig contains links to all his tutorials.

Here’s another thread that was recently started with a similar question-there’s some links I posted in there to BP builds. Agree with p0pperini above (and he certainly has much more experience than me!) the BP (from what I’ve read) is a great ‘entry’ watch. It will still be far above DH standard of watches & can be made to look great with a little patience.

Thanks for the answers ! I already understand better! So the watch I just linked is an A2813, a basic movement that is not very precise. What do you think of the Asian 2836? I didn't think you could have a watch made from a specialist.
Maybe I will ask for a vintage one with a quality and precise movement!

2813 is fine. It’s lower beat I think (than a 2836). 2836 is regarded as better.

Gen= genuine
BP= A manufacturer

The 2813 is a cheap movement, used in millions of watches. Although it's cheap, it's as precise as plenty of other mechanical automatic movements. And if it should happen to go wrong, you can replace it with another one for $15. As we've been saying, there's nothing wrong with a BP GMT.

Ok great thanks guys. Suddenly a 2813 or 2836 may be enough for me to start while waiting for the services of a specialist. I looked at the links you sent me, I remember that you have to be careful because buying a vintage in condition risks problems with the size of the case, needles, etc ... is that correct?

If you’re worried about details like size of case/ hands etc. Then you need to do quite a bit of research, rather than ask an initial question of ‘is it fishy’ and then continue with endless questions. Have you read all the threads we posted links to?

yes thank you I browse them and I discuss with some members in private. I just saw that these details were important while reading the comments.
