Cartier Cabochon Crown

A friend of mine who owns a pawn shop took a look at my ultimate santos today under his loupe and was blown away with the quality. The only thing he said is that the cabochon is wrong and should be sapphire. However a google search says its synthetic spinell on the gen. Does anyone know what material it is on the rep?

I don't have a clue but on my older Santos the cabochon looks pretty cheap. It looks like blue glass from an old milk of magnesia bottle :facepalm:

This is my issue with the cartier reps. Even the cabochon's on the $400 plus reps differ and some of them still look cheap.

Think the roadster might be the best choice as it doesn't have a cabochon.

That was what was told to me regarding the Balon Bleu line when I asked about the crown at the AD (they left out the synthetic part on the spinel--but I had read the same on a gen watch forum a while back.
