Can 7753 clones be swapped with Gen ETA?

Got a line on a really good price for a genuine ETA 7753. Was thinking about getting the PAM224 and swapping the clone with the ETA. Anyone know if this can be done smoothly or if I'd be likely to run into troubles?

Edit: Sorry, just realized I should have posted this in the 7750/7753 board.

thanks,

Anyone?

I already bought the movement. My trigger finger is itchy to buy the new 224 from H-Fac. Only thing preventing me is not knowing for sure if my watchmaker would be able to get the movement fitted in it.

I think you cannot replace due to the date window position. Experts can explain better.

Thanks for the info folks. I will let you all know how it goes when I get the watch and do the movement swap.

Comparing the new 2015 Pam224 rep with the previous 2013 version, the new rep appears to have the correct date window position. It uses the so-called "new breed" A7753. Hopefully the date wheel from the gen ETA lines up well with the date window on the new version dial.

The movement cost me $400. The watch will cost $418. My watchmaker will charge me $100 to do the movement swap. So total cost will be ~$900-$950. Not a bad price for a watch with a genuine ETA 7753 - and a beautiful looking one with real croc strap at that. I don't know of any gen watches with 7753 in that price range, even from cheaper brands like Hamilton. I <3 reps. Such good value for the money.
