Hi Everyone,

I am new to the rep watch world and have been researching on forums and sites. If possible, I'd like your recommendations on watch type and sellers and as there seem to be several good choices. I've explored Pure-Time, Silix, TT, Toro and private sellers. All seem great but have vast price differences.

Sorry, I can't post attachments yet. Looking for a ladies' watch, my first rep, Cartier Ballon Bleu, 36 mm. Top choice is 2-tone SS/yellow gold. Genuine comes in automatic but I could do quartz as well (if it matches gen).

Sellers claim it's 14K or 18 K gold plating on 2-tone. Does anyone know if that will "rub off" or damage, even though genuine is plated as well? If that's a concern, I would consider all SS, as some sellers have recommended.

Willing to pay for best quality and closest to authentic but price differences across sellers (as well as so many good ones) make it hard to choose.

If anyone has experience with the gold plating issue or a fave seller for this watch, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Thanks All!

best quality is gen.

having said that, there are few super rep in the ladies watch department, but cartier is definitely one where rep makers focus on. i doubt that its 18k plated gold, most rep makers use 14k plated due to lower costs.
i've never experienced gold rubbing off before, with proper care, its not something you should be worrying about. even gens have pvd coatings and gold rubbing off from time to time.

from my understanding, most cartier women watches are quartz. you might want to head to the AD of cartier to get a better understanding of the watch range.

Thanks for response. So tricky to narrow down choice as I'm not clear on the large price differences across sellers for same model. Do you have a fave Cartier seller, esp. for super-reps? That's pretty much what I want, is top quality. Thanks for advise!

I was looking for a yellow gold TT ballon for my step mom and couldn't find a good one with auto movement. The ballon gen does come both Quartz and automatic so I am ordering an SS automatic ballon 36mm from pure time. You can wait for one to come up in member sales section but they are far and few between. For an auto ballon you only need to spend about 200-300 to get a really nice one.

Just ordered one and after looking at the QC I noticed that I ordered the automatic ver. But it doesn't say it on the dial...
It was my first purchase and I did a rookie mistake.

Pay attention to all the small details.
Good luck!
