Hello all,

Wanted to report my sad scam story!

I ve been scammed from the User @Rumid . He used username sjonvarp on repgeek.
Used this paypal account [email protected]

The sale thread wich i m referring to is:

I summarize the story

“He pmed me some week ago after i posted a WTB on this forum (RWI).
He told me he could sell me the watch on repgeek.
I told him it d have been ok so he started to write me on repgeek and post the sale thread which i gave you the link above.
After some pm’s i sent him funds with pp gift (yes my bad..) on 15/3. He wrote me he was ordering parcel and that he would send me the tracking by noon the same day.
I haven't heard from him since. I wrote him a couple of messages. unsuccessful! I wrote back to him yesterday saying I saw his last online status on the 16th on repgeek and the 17th on RWI. if he hadn't answered me I would have started the scam procedure.
So here i am.”

I wanted to advise the whole community!

RG can only give you the information that they have themselves. Email accounts can be opened and then discarded. He used two different ones for each forum. IP addresses can be masked by using VPN and date of birth can be just made up; the forum doesn’t ask for supporting birth certificates.

RG staff do what they can within those constraints. If you paid via PP F&F and you financed PP via a credit card, you may have recourse with the finance house on the basis that goods were not received.

I paid trough pp using my associated credit card.
The transaction isnt still accounted by my bank.
Do u all think i ve a chance to get my money back rejecting the transaction?

100% credit card, or 50/50 debit/credit?
Credit card companies are 100% more likely to help than debit because they know you won't pay for the transaction if it was a scam.
If you do it with debiut though the bank make sure you state it was a scam you fell for due to you being technological illiterate or something along those lines.
Banks love sob stories for people being illiterate with paypal and such: also state how you were paying for a physical item.

100% with my credit card.
With my bank i ve both credit and debit but i paid with credit this time.
what are implication with paypal?
Should i write to pp frist? Telling them i made a mistake with the mail address of the scammer?
Or i should proceed directly with my bank?

tip : if you write to PP first , and they deny it , then you do it tru you bank , they will lock your PP up

if you do it thru your bank/cc they MIGHT lock your pp up , but thats a crap shoot

Wait, you guys have had your pp locked? They never locked mine when I had online problems? though this wasn't' in the watch community, it was in online items+sales.

well if you ask pp and they say NO and you do it anyway , it will get locked

if they say yes you are golden

if you do it thru your bank cc with out asking its a 50/50 chance
