Hi folks

New to RWI and would appreciate advice from some of you more seasoned members.

A couple of months ago I'd never even heard of Panerai and, to be honest, when I did I didn't much care for them. That's all changed now and I've been converted.

I've been in touch with PT and he's provided me with prices and info on the following two models:

PAM 104 with A7750:

PAM 111H with Swiss Unitas 6497 hand wind movement:

Right now I'm scratching my head wondering which to go for. I'm leaning slightly towards the 104 but I've noticed there's lots of posts regarding the 111 and few re the 104.

If any owners of these reps could give me their opinions that will be great.

Oh and btw which strap looks better on the 111, brown leather or black rubber?

Thanks in anticipation.

I like the ultimate 104. The 111h (unless a LH) has too many flaws. If I did go with a 111, I would go with an Asian engraved movement and put the money saved from the Swiss movement into a lume job, or crown, or new cg.

My personal choice would be the 104 because I like to have the date. I would choose a leather black strap from Strapculture for it...but it's really personal as the 111 is the reference..

My personal choice would be neither...! I'd go for something like a Breitling Superocean or an Omega PO.

The 104 looks much nicer to me but in terms of flaws, I know nothing about Panerai.

111h if you like to send your watch all over the place for modding lol, so it is the 104 for me. I am sure the rest will agree with me :)

I started with a base PAM (a DSN 112), then added a GMT, a 3646 Vintage DSN, and one with the second hand (it's a franken so hasn't got a number). To be honest, I've come to the conclusion that the simpler the better for PAMs. Thus for me it is the 'base' such as the 112. The big deal is to get a really nice strap for it. I've been trolling through the makers of Ammo Straps, and one of these days..... Simple and sophisticated. Breitling for Bentley-NOT!

I know nothing about Pams, but given the choice I'd take a DSN over any standard dealer's offerings any day of the week.
Just my $0.02
