Hi guys,

im not a new user, i bought in 2007 a Tag Heuer Carrera Rep !!

But thats was my first and last deal by now. So i wanna buy a Panerai 111. But i dont know where to buy...thought about Jacob, but i read about the cartell...i dont wanna support structures like that !!

So can someone tell me where to buy a "perfect" rep for round about 500 US $.

I think this things need to be done:

Sapphire with NO AR
sead/nembo CG
Cannon pinion polished
CG pin and lever mods
right Dial
Dial and hands lumed

So the problem is, i need a contact where i can buy the watch and can send it to a person that can handle the things and do it properly...

Can someone tell me what to do ?

Greetings from germany and sorry for my english, thats not my native language :)

Sead might not be the best option right now...he had to leave the US recently, might take him awhile to get organised.

To have something built you can use Domenico, like yourself he's in Germany....you will have to source the parts but that shouldn't be too hard.

Mekki, hey there. Welcome back I guess is the proper thing to say. LOL! I'm a little worried about what you want. You mentioned "Perfect" 111 and "Right" dial. The 111 dials are off no matter which version you buy. The "6" being wrong plus the print of the "A" in Panerai, etc. There is a little hero dial but those are very pricey and you won't hit your $500 price range. The mods and parts alone that you mention will cost close to $300 if not more depending on who you go through and which parts you use. More if you start adding a T48 crown and a new dial. This still doesn't include the base watch (Caseset) and movement.

Vac does great work but is Conus. You are probably better off keeping it where you are at like Domi that was just mentioned.

Anyway, good luck and show some photos when you're done. Never enough photos of PAM's. LOL!

I think Drivesick hit the nail on the head. Everybody's definition for a perfect rep is different. It will be close to a gen, but not identical. The Pam 111 reps that I consider close to perfect cost in excess of $800 to $1,000 U.S. currency. My quest is for a gen, but that is far off in the future if I keep buying reps......... Good Luck with your search. I am sure you can find a very nice 111 for $500. ( it wont be perfect, but really nice )

Sounds like Dom is for you in the EU . . .

I've got Vac building my ultimate 111 here in the US. I highly doubt you'll accomplish your quality goal for $500 though. Philosophically, I'm puzzled by you saying you want a "perfect" (i know you mean very good) rep, but intend to tell everyone it's a fake!!! I've got gen rolexes x2 and I will have a gen Pam, but in the meantime I'm gonna fake it with a good Pam, and I'm sure as heck not gonna tell people it's a fake. In Mississippi, I'm not really at risk of being "called out." Even our rolex dealer hadn't heard of Panerai lol. I've had an Eddie Lee 111h with a crazy horse strap (greg) and he thought it was the bomb! The kewl thing about the 111 (clear caseback) is that folks believe fakes have quartz movments, and nobody would take the time to fit a mechanically energized into a "fake." Fakes for me, have just given me the opportunity to test drive until I can get a Gen, then I haven't dealt with buyers remorse! I wish I coulda done that with my car (talk about buyers remorse lol). I gotta a sneaky suspicion that having a 111 "done-up" by Vac might prevent me from going gen though hehehe

I dunno, mj. Getting good reps only made me want the gens more...

Reps are definately the way to go for me. Like MJ said 99.9% of the public could not tell the difference between a Rep and a Gen. Especially at a glance on your wrist. Even if they take a close look. Only a Rep collector could readily point out the imperfections. I had a guy completely freak when he saw my Pam187. He had no clue it was a Rep.

I was in watch retailer's store a couple of weeks ago--which I rarely am, and saw a genuine Black Seal. It was a stunner and there was just something about it that shouted 'genuine' that none of my reps do. Maybe it was the lighting, maybe it was simply because I knew it was genuine, but the effect on me was disappointing--because it made it clear (whether psychologically or for real) that my reps are just that: reproductions. To make maters worse, apart from my cheap-n-cheerful 'Mini Fiddy', my three others PAM reps are all from Davidsen and thus aren't cheap and are supposed to be excellent. Damn!

...there was just something about it that shouted 'genuine' that none of my reps do....

And that's where I am today, pretty much. It only gets worse if you actually buy a gen PAM, too.

That's why I sold my DSN 027A rep with t48 crown and gen CG (about as close to gen as you can get without being gen) and am saving up for another gen.

I'm convinced it's all in my head, but that's the worst part. Because it matters to ME and it will be ME that's wearing the watch. So, whether it "fools" anyone else, or whether anyone else notices I'm even wearing a watch is completely beside the point.

We are our own worst enemies! I've spent my life as a purist (some might term that 'snob') and came into reps because I just couldn't justify the prices of the genuine goods. That doesn't mean, however, that I wouldn't buy the real McCoy if I could. There's a part of me that says: 'sell the 4 DSNs, the Omega, and the IWC and save up for one real Panerai..... Interestingly, the one I would not sell is my Chinese Tourby--perhaps because it isn't a rep. Neurotic or what!!!!

To be quite honest . . I believe many of us can afford the Gens just fine. I think part of being able to afford them is "caused" by having reasonably good sense. I love the PAMS, but I really do see them as waaay over priced for the level of complication etc. I see a lot more "value" in the reps, especially the skilled hands, eyes, and minds that go into modding/customization. I guess I have an appreciation that post production craftsmanship we get from dom, vac, snead and the like (I'm newly returned so I don't know all the names of our mod squad). I appreciate all our dealers and modders!!!
