What do you mean no longer available? New from ETA, maybe not but TD's been using old swiss movements that they refurbished. It really depends on the makers supply at hand.
Just as a follow up no matter where I look all I find is that the 2846 is a 21k VPH not a 28k VPH. I'm putting this movement in an Noob EXP2 216570 whose beat should be 28K but since the A2836 gave up the ghost this goes in and thats that.
The ETA 2846 is lowbeat 21.600 bph and that´s why it´s fine for any vintage Rolex built or the AP Diver. Runs instantly and silent, good pr, it will be nice. Doesn´t it have to be converted to run in a GMT?
Just as a follow up this movement is still in a drawer, I put a New eta 2836 in the EXP 2. This 2846 will probably go in a new cartel 5513 with Yuki FT 1st dial , eta hands, Athaya 702 crown and german T19 or T39
I have read about people converting the 2836 to a low-beat using the balance cock/wheel, fork and escape wheel (I think) from a 2846. You could probably reverse engineer the process and make a 2846 a high-beat movement by possibly using 2836 clone parts.
