Quite a while ago Timesshop had a special offer on the 177H.

As I am not much into Panarai (and very mean) I decided that this might be a good introduction to this brand. It seemed reasonably priced at $150.

So now I have it, and I like it. Not to a point where I will get any more Panarais, and not to a point where I would spend serious money to get a better one. Generally I do not look for reps to be 100%, as long as they are plausible to the general world outside the rep-fora.

But I am interested to hear your comments about this one, so that I can learn a bit more about it. It is always useful to know what the tells are, and entertaining to get the minute analysis and scrutiny watches are given here. So feel free!!

My overall impression is that this is a well made rep of a relatively simple watch. I like the dial and the movement, was pleased to note that the strap was made of leather (even though I might change it one day) and I feel that it is wearable as it is. Certainly good value in that case.

So here goes for you lot to chew it to bits....:

Crown and guard. I am not so keen on the lever and wonder if that can be fixed. Others have mentioned that the crown is wrong, but I cannot see it, to tell me...:

This isn't as good as the old discontinued 177. Nevertheless, lots of things to be fixed. To start with, crown and CG are dead giveaways. Not mentioning the flaws on the dial...

Too many things to be fixed on this model.

Taka is right...there is a LOT wrong with this model. A few things I noticed... The teeth on the cg is a dead giveaway. So is the cg. No high cannon pin, dial is flawed, lume color is wrong, movement engraving is bold and too big. the "2" in the 12 is too short, caseback engravings look to bold...need I go on ;)

BUT on a serious note, its not about what gives it away. If YOU are happy then everyone is happy. Wear the watch and enjoy it brother :)

Although yours has it flaws, I really like the look and feel of the Titanium PAMs. Get yourself a nice strap for that and it'll look great.

Most importantly! Enjoy your watch!

The dagger is not even touching the screw!!, I mean swan necks are usually ornamental in reps, but at least dont make it clear.

Is a nice watch anyway, not even close to DSNs latest though.

Thanks for all this.

I was wondering if it is worth it making any upgrades on it.
If it gets any, I think it would be re-lume and crown+guards. But what would be cost of that, where would I get the bits and how much for a used one with that sorted?

Will probably only give it a new strap...

From one non-expert to another: if you like the watch, spend the money on a really nice strap from one of the makers here at the forum. It makes all the difference in the world and gives you far more bang-for-your-buck than the expense of a relume, cannon pin fix, etc. etc. That, of course, is merely my 2 cents worth.
