Watch & Wonders 2015 Pam 617 and 629

Looks like that yesterday under the Limited Edition 2015 section in the Panerai Website there was a preview of 2 new models: Pam 617 and Pam 629.

both watches have:

- 47 mm DLC coated Titanium case
- Domed sapphire cyrstal
- P.3000 calibre
- Luminor 1950 case
- "Ponte Vecchio" strap

617 is an LP with Logo
629 is a plain Cali Dial

Very interesting attempt by OP. Titanium DLC coated should be interesting as I always found 47mm 127 / 217 with sapphire to be rather heavy on the wrist. The dials look very vintagey and grainy like the 532. But I like the 617 more because I can't seem to match up gold hands with a dlc case just because it's a cali dial.

I'm the only one who see this Cali dial with a little sphered out effect? the dial doesn't look flat for sure.

That's crystal distortion imho. You don't see it as much on the 617 because there's no rail track on the dial.
These have a fiddy-like domed sapphire as I understand.

Yes, I do remember distortion from Fiddy, but this... this is different, haven't seen in any PAM before... nice touch.

Closed cb...definitely bring repped..they just made it easy for rep factories to make a killing.

Unfortunately, the cali will have loads of distortion effect on the rail and to me will be a turn off.

Minus the DLC. DLC can never be exactly repped just like the 532. But the latest version by ZF was a better attempt. I will review and compare it with gen when I receive it.

Oh yeah thats right they could never get this pencil grey effect right but however would love to hear some good news from latest ZF

That's one of the main selling points to me on these -- I'm not a Cali Dial guy per se, but the domed crystal and overall black/gold feel has me interested. We'll see if it happens ...
