Ended up selling one of my watches unexpectedly to someone who really wanted it and I decided I’d replace it with a 16800, I’ve always wanted one but as many of you know you can’t try just buy a rep of this model. So I started researching and amazing parts.

I decided to go with a 3135 build and was able to source a unicorn 16800 case specifically built for the 3135. I immediately decided I wanted the classic open 6-9 dates but lord, these were expensive. I kicked around the idea of a DWO but that simply wouldn’t work. So after hunting the Bay of E I was able to find one in the U.K. not cheap at all, but not devastating either. Currently waiting for it to show up and should be here tomorrow. Insert is a genuine 16800 flat 4. I’m using a VR3135 movement, gen hands, gen reprint matte dial. (Not sold on the dial but it will work for now) it’s a dial for the 3035 so I will have to ever so slightly trim down the dial feet so not to impact date function on the 3135 and so it sits nice and flush. The 3035 feet are very slightly taller. I
Was able to score 2 correct 93150 bracelets and clasps from 2 very helpful members. Went the WSO route for the 593 endlinks. Hands are gen luminova and match the dial well. Gaskets are all gen, tube is Clarks crown is gen. Will likely be gen crystal as well.

Crown guards will need some reshaping and I’ll get to that prior to final assembly. I’m pretty excited to put all this together and will post some pics as it progresses.

Decided to finish this thing off.

Ultrasonic cleaned parts.

Waterproofed case

Set dial and hands

Installed into case,

Trimmed stem and for crown

Assembled and done.

Had to fit the insert just a little but no biggie. All in all pretty happy with it.

Looks great man. I’m happy with this one however I’m gonna do some more shaping on the end links, little more polishing and trimming the crown guards and give it a little bit of age. Not much but gotta be 40 yes old

that oh so sweet open 6!

FINALLY!!!! I know the trials and tribulations you went through for that damn date wheel!

Congrats, it looks great and you got it done in a relatively short amount of time. What was it... 3 weeks or so from start to finish if I’m remembering correctly?
