Well normally the crown should screw down nice and tight on the tube.
Have u checked if the crown has a gasket in it that may block the screwing down?

Otherwise the threads on the crown might be damaged, as the tube was sealed and threads look good.

Good job on the crown guards btw!

Cheers

It's my understanding that you have to broach the interior of that case tube in order to accommodate the thickness of the shaft on that crown.

For example, startimesupply sells a replacement 24-5300 crown tube that requires broaching in order to be used with a 24-530 crown, but also sells alternative replacement crowns 24-5320 and 24-5330-SS that do not require broaching. In particular, here is what startime's sales listing for the RP24-5300 states:

Swiss Case Tube and Gasket. Replaces Rolex 24-5300. Use for Rolex crown 24-530. Fits Star Time Crown RP24-530W and RP24-530Y. Must broach inside tube after the installation to fit crown. To avoid broaching Use RP24-5320-SS or RP24-5320. Use Tool TRCT53 or TRCT5320(M) to Install/Replace
