Question about buying Gen crowns – why do sellers list the number of turns?

Like the title says, I have seen many sellers listing the number of turns on the tube when selling gen rolex crowns. Is this because they are partly stripped or damaged? I assume more turns is better?

Interesting. I haven’t seen this as far as I remember, but I would be interested. Are these specific crowns? (Rolex/ Omega etc.?) if they are just the crown (minus tube), could it be an indication of the correct tube req.? I’m sure some of the experts on here will chime in with a correct reason.

Haven't seen this. Can you post an example or two? I would assume they are damaged though.

So how many turns does a new or "like new" crown have? If it makes a difference I am looking for a 5.3mm.

I see this a lot with older watches. As mentioned gives an indication of the tube and crown thread condition.

Since it looks like to get a NOS crown is going to be pushing 200 bucks what is the best option for an aftermarket crown? I didn't see any 5.3mm on Athaya's site which leaves Raffles or Yuki - are these any good?
