Crooked/misaligned bezel insert

I recently got a bezel insert and I think it’s crooked. The red triangle points to 59minutes when the other markers are aligned properly.

This wasn’t the case with the bezel that came with the watch. Initially I thought that as I had made my own dial the decal has stretched, but I have made a new dial and been really careful to make sure it was true. However putting the new dial in it is still pointing to 59.

Is this acceptable or should I be asking for a replacement?

Mine’s fairly similar to that. Doesn’t bother me too much with the 6538. If I’d paid $100-250 for the insert I’d want something that was ‘correct’, but at (something like) $20 per insert, I’m personally happy with the quality. I can’t remember if all of the ones I’ve bought are like this, but the one on my watch is similar to yours. Like I said, it doesn’t bother me that much, and I assume it applies to all of them that have been printed/ anodised as part of the same batch, but if it bothers you it would be interesting to hear the suppliers response if you do raise it.

I have also noticed that some of Bart Cordells dial templates, which he probably 'copied' from genuine watch dials from pictures, are also sometimes very poorly aligned. Just drag a box in paint over them and you will see what I mean!

That dial looks like it might be the culprit and not the insert.

I guess that kind of aligns with why it doesn’t bother me as much on the 6538...in that the originals are probably diverse in terms of how ‘aligned’ or not certain elements are. No CAD back in the 1950s.

Briteling it’s definitely the insert: I did use Bart Cordell ‘s dials as a starting point, but made sure that I straightened them out and rotated them so they were correct.

Plus - the original insert is plum on. If you look at the 50 and 10 markers - they line up with the lugs, whereas the triangle is to the left.

If the general consensus is that it’s acceptable - then I’m not too bothered. I’m quite pleased with how I aged the insert and the bezel.

A learning point for the next watch! ????

Hopefully Athaya ‘s planned bezels will be better.

Well, you can decal print it... Here is what I printed myself, and as a bonus this will already look a bit aged. And you can align thr crap out of it in the design.

Thank you, didn’t think they were available separately from the case!
