Cartel build retainer question

I’ve got two plexis inbound from Otto Frei with two slightly different IDs that are T19 tropical equivalents.

I’m hoping one or both will provide an interference fit to the Rehaut. The one that came with the JKF did not and was glued on (it was also the wrong shape but that’s besides the point).

Can anyone tell me if the retainer should also be replaced with a Clark one or will the Cartel one work?

Depends which you bought. The crystal dimensions vary very slightly, even if they are classed as T19 replacements. I would go for the PA 462 66

hi jackflash I actually saw your on one of your previous posts....your recommendation to use the PA 462-66....unfortunately they didn't have one in stock so I ordered a larger dia PA 462-67 and smaller dia PA 462-20A as they are also in the T19 family.

If you have a line on where to get a PA 462-66 other than Otto that would be great as I am sure one of them will fit and look nicer than what I got on the JKF / Cartel.

My original question however, is.... do I need to get a new metal crystal retainer ring (from Clark) to press fit the crystal / plexi onto the rehaut OR will the provided JKF one do the job?

Pity it’s not available. I don’t know of another source.
I’d wait until you get the crystals. One will probably fit with the retaining ring. Main thing is it’s a snug fit with the rehaut. I.e. inner dimension. If the outer dimension is a little too big you can always sand the crystal down slightly.

BTW I was able to source a 66 from Esslinger after all.

Once I receive my 702 crown and tube from Athaya, I can commence with case mods and fit insert a better crystal.

You can use Sternkreutz T19 XS303.472 or XS305.451 the best is you order both and try which fits tighter.
