Hi Guys,

I have read from a few posts about highly modded st19 cartel based 6263/6265 daytona, that a pair of high quality/ identical to gen P302 MK3 pushers were used.
They were also described as swiss made and of great quality, exactly like gen and much cheaper than Phong's.

I did some research, it seems like people are referring to the pair CousinsUK is selling for 49 pounds, and some other posts mentioned about the P302 pusher ofrei is selling for 49 USD.

Are they the same pusher? and which one is more recommended if they are not?

Also I believe it is also requires modding to fit the pusher to cartel base as I assume they are not direct swap in?

Many thanks for any help of any kind.

PeterChao

Well, I got the cousins for around $50 each. They’re absolutely fine imo

Thanks mate! Your PN looks amazingly elegant with the Jubliee! Could you kindly help to point out which one is the correct one? I saw two on cousins’ website. One with CX=1.90mm, the other one with CX=2.40mm

I‘d get the longer one and trim it down. It’s just the part that’s pushing the reset or start part in the movement.

U can easily trim it down to the needed length.

Cheers

peterchao - Bumping this one to see if there has been any progress on your build, and particularly with respect to changing the pushers.

Mr Seamaster btw have you tested if the watch was waterproofed with the cousins' pushers?
Thx

No I haven’t tested it. I wouldn’t go swimming with it even if it would pass 10 atm though.

@Twist.. it’s the stock cartel bezel. Planning on a steel one as i prefer the look of that over the bakelite.

Mr Seamaster I saw your repgeek thread and am planning on doing the same mod to my Cartel 6263 - do these pushers from WSO look to be the same as the ones Cousins sells:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/SCREW-PUSH...40-6241-6262-6263-6264-6265-P302/310304839378

They also have a 2-pack but I can't tell if they're the same as the above link:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/2-CROWN-PU...771313?hash=item257f6f01b1:g:XC4AAOSw3iRe6Nps

Thanks!

I ordered those P302 pushers from WSO about 6 months ago, but I ended up returning them because the pushers that I received did not match the photos in the sales listing. In particular, the pushers that I recieved lacked the engraved rings around the outer tube and button of each pusher (which was important to me because I was interested in MK3 pushers):

At the time, WSO advised that they didn't have any pushers that matched the MK3 version, so if that is what you're looking for I would suggest sending them a message before you buy.

By the way, if you do decide to buy from WSO on ebay, I would suggest adding the item to your cart and leaving it there for a few days to see if they send you a discount offer (usually 5-10% off). They have done that many times when I have left an item in my cart for 2-3 days.

FYI, I ended up buying these pushers from watchpartusa: ebay link

I have not installed them yet, but they look to be the same construction as the Cousins pushers that Mr Seamaster used.

Best of luck with your build!

I‘d avoid buying from WSO, they send u either pure crap or products that don‘t match their pics.

I still have the cousins ones installed without any problems.

I believe the cousins are the same as the watchpartusa ones. They’re all more or less produced at the same factory and get sold by different vendors.

Spoons oh that link is perfect, thank you! I searched for "6263 pusher" and the WSO ones came up, but the lack of description/good pics threw me off. Will be getting these instead!

Mr Seamaster they do look pretty much identical - now to get the tap and start working. Thanks!

Spoons did you ever get the pushers installed? Curious to see what tap size you used and how the process was. I've been putting it off for a while, and now the original thread on RG (along with all of RG) is locked to the public without any way to register haha

Hello! This project has been on hold (for way too long) because work has been crazy, so I haven't got around to installing the pushers.

I can still access Mr Seamaster 's RepGeek thread: https://www.repgeek.com/vintage-wat...artel-pushers-comparsion-project-updated.html

Here are the posts from that thread:

Mr Seamaster said:
This will be updated once I have the correct tapping tool in my postbox which could take some time as it’s coming from Far East.

Cheers fellas!

All the cartel daytona info on the web is quite old, so i‘ll start a new thread in hope it could be useful for some fellow members

Just saw 2-3 guys who did this mod, so i‘ll give it a try and do it myself.

I‘ve a standard cartel 4-digit daytona with vietnam dial and Athayas 702 crown/tube, the standard stuff.

The stock cartel pushers are crap imo. They have (if they have) one o-ring inside, are pressfitted to the case and don’t even look 1% like the gen- which somehow drive me nuts.

Just bought some cousinsUK pushers, which arrived yesterday.

Let me say that they feel much better in terms of quality than the cartel standard ones.
(They even look like the ones MQ/ Phong/ whoever is selling for $150 each!)

They have two lovely o-rings where they need to be which will get some grease from me.

Another great thing is that the cousins ones have less teeth on the part u screw/unscrew. Which was imo one of the biggest tells.

Cousins ones need a M2.5x0.2mm thread to make them fit to the cartel case. That means the diameter of the thread is 2.5mm and there are 5 threads in length per mm. (-0.25 would be 4 threads per mm, just for clarification)
As said a tapping tool is on the way.

As most of you might know the cartels have a little L shaped Arm on the lower pusher to allow the pusher to sit lower to get that asymmetric look as on the genuine ones.

I’ll get into that, once the thread taps are made and i‘m able to screw the new ones in.

The cousins ones imitate service pushers, which you can see on the small gaps around the pusher head and the base- which is fine for me.

Few pics for comparison, hope they have a good resolution as they’re HDR on my iPhone.

Cousins is always the one with threads on the lower part of the pusher.

The replacement ones need a screwdriver to unscrew them. Cartels have a c-clip.

And that’s what u wanna see, two lovely o-rings and a gen spec construction!

Update!

Tool arrived today.
Already did some work on it like movement remove, pusher remove, crown/tube remove.

d50eef51b8416bbad9b2c3bb6de6f89a.jpg

For the upper pusher I used a plier which normally gets used for medical stuff and screwed the pusher further and further in till it finally popped out.

For the lower pusher I took the movement out of the case, as i was afraid that the little L shaped arm will fall off when doing this. And so it was, the L shaped arm fell off.
504f876a763e8a4f2c5107dce5e9f1b0.jpg

That isn’t a big deal as I will glue it onto the cousins pusher again with some JB weld, or make me a custom one.

Few pics of the disassembled case.

The stock plexi is a joke belonging to clarity and a tight fitment on the case so a Clarks will do the job!
d0e7172d42dba3ce10de5fa4ed23ecd6.jpg

That’s the tapping tool. M2.5x0.2.
I’ll try it on a piece of aluminum first if it taps the hole as needed for the new pushers.

But before I start making holes and tapping around, I’ll do some caserework. Just hardly as it seems the cartel case is quite fragile and there’s not much material to work on.

After sanding the whole thing a little, the hardest part came, the tapping.
Slowly I turned the tappingtool in, one full turn and a half back.

U have to be careful as f^%* not to screw up the whole thing and have to tap slowly and steady- and most important straight.

There ya go, that’s what u wanna see! Some super lovely threads!

They‘re just screwed in now and will get glued with JB or GS cement.

Next would be the L shaped arm. I think I have to make a custom one, as the hole in the arm is too small for the new pushers ends.
After that I need to file the pusher ends down as they are longer than the cartel ones for proper functionality to the movement.

Thanks for looking

Phil

Update III

Pusher installed.

Had to sand down the pin that attaches the starting lever. Before that i used some locktite and screwed it in tightly that it won’t screw out again.

Works perfectly!

2c518b85ac25c7a7aa124215618ae90f.jpg

For the reset one i need to order a new one with a longer pin that attaches to the reset part as the standard one would be too short (and i‘ve shortened it too much lol ).

I’ll try to slim the pin down and bent it to the form it needs.

Something like that.
dc4a54cbbeb5c78d5f515183a1cde4dd.jpg

So this will get another update, once I have the new pusher.

While this i‘m going to JB weld the Start pusher to the case.

Final update IV

Lucky me the new pusher arrived yesterday.

9df0c8ff2c17ec8618973498c13c5566.jpg

As you can clearly see it’s too straight to engage the reset lever.

db61298ca1db473a3da071bcb2822fea.jpg

b0a1c23773ae545473fb08a9b9c4e7ea.jpg

So i disassembled the pusher and shaved the pin that attaches the resetlever slightly by hand. Don’t use a dremel as you‘d shave too much material too fast!

After that I installed the pin to the pusher again, and bent it slightly.
Make sure you don’t overdo it as the pusher wouldn’t reset correctly when it’s bent too much.

The overstaying JB can be sanded with some sandpaper so you see anything from that anymore.

Well, project done.
Hope that helps for your next cartel to cousins pushers project!
