Been looking for a 1575 movement and I found a few but they seem fairly pricey ($2500-$3500). All gen parts and freshly serviced.

Is that a reasonable range? I was thinking around $2k was a fair price but seller turned it down.

Edit: including the original datewheel.

Just regular 1575 or the gmt version?

I bought 1575 for 1.5k service will run you about 200-300$

It depends on your location.
For a 1530 or 70 (no date, no gmt), expect to pay about 600/700 euros in France if you don t need any expensive spare parts (work made by an independent watch maker)

350 euros to service a 3135 (work made by rolex)

Ive bought one for around 1200 total a couple of months ago, serviced it for about 500 - but it also included changing the bearings to jewels. I think 2k is a superfair price. 1500-2000. There was a guy on VRF who had a bunch of movements he sold for about 1k for a couple of years and they all needed some real service.

All the eBay ones etc need service anyway so don't believe if they say it was serviced. Try to pick up one that looks ok, no visible rust or something out of place and go from there.

You can buy one for 1.5k-1.8k and just service it. You might need some parts replaced and maybe mainspring but all in you should be in 2k range.

BTW - cal 1570s are bulletproof, so even an unserviced one with run pretty well. the main thing is to check amplitude - I've had/worked on a few that ran perfect but was beating with amplitudes in the mid 100's, or with slipping mainsprings. as long as that is the only problem, a service will solve all problems.

What you don't want are movements missing parts or need complete replacements. for example, a brand new balance is around $350 alone, plus the work will shoot your all in cost way higher.

I was talking about the cost of the service... of course. I love quoting myself.
A nice mov ready to plug is about 2K.
I paid my 1530 at 1850 euros few months ago. Ebay said it was perfect, but it was not perfect at all. Spiral was fucked up, etc.

No he said he would supply the receipt of the service and blah blah blah. I thought 2k was a very fair price. It looked very clean. Oh well. Maybe next time.

Edit: my guess is that he bought a beat up datejust that was barely running for about 1500 or so and then parted them out to make some money.

I have a 1560 offered to me, serviced, $1450. Can I get your opinion (or anyone else here), good price?

Would be a great start to building a 5512 or 1016.

I think 1560 can fetch even higher prices than 1570 so 1450$ for serviced and running one is great deal

Amen to that! It’s a legit business so I don’t think they’ll benefit to scam (fateful last words).
In any event, I asked a lot of questions and eventually paid - via PayPal Good & Services with my credit card. All very intentional in case it does become an issue.
Fingers crossed it all plays out nicely.

Movement arrived today with stem and gold crown. It’s clean and healthy! Only had a chance to check one position (DU) but it’s running +2sec, 0.0BE, and 290amp.
Aesthetically, it has some playing loss but overall not bad.
I think it was a good buy in the end.

Good news, congrats. Does it come from Japan (Osaka)? I missed few mov sales from an Ebay seller there, and his items were fairly priced.
