I have built a 1016 with parts from raffles (wan’t to keep cost low) and a ETA2824. Aged the dial and hands, done nothing to the case yet because I‘m not sure if I went too far :) But see by yourself.

that definitely has an aged appearance to the dial would be interested in hearing on how you achieved those results..

Definitely age the case and bracelet to match.

I first just wan‘t to have the lume a bit more dark, put it in the oven, maybe too long and the paint was chipping. Then I tried to fix it with black paint, looked like a new dial with a defect. So I decided to go wild :) I put some coffee ground on the dial and repainted it with varnish.... thats the result.

I don‘t know if I should age the case and bracelet or buy a new dial and handset. What I definitely will do are drilling lugholes. Always wan‘t to try it in a case without holes at all. To get bigger ones is easy, but if there are no holes at all.......challenge accepted.

interesting technique... ive used coffee to age the lume but never added coffee to the dial itself..

I aged one of these raffles dials I used candy air brush paint. orange , yellow and brown.

My thoughts ...if you love how your dial looks then keep it and age the case....if not...get a new dial and try again with the aging..

I changed it to a new yuki dial....done just some slight aging......just that the white isn‘t that poping.

I also aged the case and bracelet and i drilled some lugholes.......it‘s an easy task when there already some holes which are gone trough but that wasn‘t the case.

Good job on drilling the lugs. well done! The holes are a bit high but nobody will notice ... your next task is to replace the sapphire crystal for an acrylic t22

Yep you‘re right, I had to drill them from inside first, that‘s the reason why they‘re a bit too high.

I will see if I will go the route to exchange also the crystal, we will see :)

Hey 369mafia,

I really like the aging you did to your dial.

Could you advice me on how you got that dial so "structured", I would like to create this bumpy/uneven surface as well and how did you apply the paint? slightly via brush over the whole dial?

Thank you in advance!

The texture on the dial was the result of a coat of matt clear coat .

Thank you for the info - didnt know it would be that easy :)

You have to use acetone based matte coating. Acrylic coating will wok but you get much more texture with acetone based.
