Jesus, $20k just for the insert... :shok:

Bananas. And I thought 1675 inserts were expensive... I wonder how rare these radium bakelites really are?

Looks like Rolex used Radium until 1960, and the 6542 was produced until 1959 (if google isn't lying to me), so all original bakelite inserts should be radium based, as fragile as they are.

"There is a very tiny stable crack next to the 22 o'clock, otherwise intact"

I don't agree with his assessment. There are lots of smaller cracks all the way around that bezel.

But it is beautiful... To the right collector? I don't know but 20k seems ridiculous.

It's an insert with the bezel ring and the tension wire, if they are all original, off the same watch, then it's very rare to see them come up for sale.

I've seen inserts with cracks and chunks missing out of them sell for $5k - they were very fragile then, and are probably even more fragile now

It’s now 19 and some change. Almost can’t afford NOT to buy it for that deal.

Would suck if someone bought it for 20 and had it fall apart on them the second they looked at it

I think you can get it insured, not 100% but most likely
