Made a few changes
Swapped from a ver 2 JMB case set to a Ver 1 that I had in my parts bin

Also swapped to a T22 domed crystal I love the distortion.

Also considering swapping to a gold hand set. This dial is most accurate to a 1960 1016 I’ve seen gens with both gold and standard hand sets.

Looks sharp. What do you think it all ran up to in total value?

I love vintage watches but spending money as a student is a different story.

What lume Kit have u bought mate?

Looks lovely with the T22.

This was the factory lune on the dial I had just aged it with a mixture of yellow and brown candy paints and sprayed the dial. once dry I then sealed the dial with a semi gloss clear coat to create the damage effects to the dial surface

Really nice work Jonathan, especially the dial. I consider you the king of early Explorers :abnormal:

Thank you Jim That is a fine compliment coming from you and the detail oriented nature of your builds. I will wear that Crown (or shall I say cornet) proudly! :D

I still find it strange that when I first discovered vintage rolex that the Explorer was my least favorite and I originally had no desire or interest in it...then one day I was just drawn to its simplicity and could not get enough of it..and apparently still can't as I am up to 4 explorers in my collection and another on the way LOL In fact there are probably a few as I would still like to experiment with some aging , patina and tropical effects on dial as well as I have always wanted an Albino as well as a Commando Things are getting carried away here.

This watch was the reference for my '60 build here

What excellent work, I really like explorer now and I was never drawn to it before either.

It’s crazy, the result you reached with the dial from the original dials look. All about experimenting!

seeing this type of post is what I enjoy most about the forum. If I had more time myself I’d love to give it all a go too.

Keep posting.
