FINALLY my 16800 build is done!

For those not familiar with the 16800, it is the transitional model between the 1680 and the 16610. The first 16800's had a matte dial, the later ones a glossy dial. I choose the latter.

The most difficult part to get for this build was a datedisc with open 6/9 for the 3135. The genuine 16800 has a 3035, so those wont fit. I managed to get one after quite some time.

Here is just one pic, more will follow!

Please share more pictures! Lovely build. Would love to see the engravings as well. Might convince me to do an E-serial build.

Beautiful build mate congratulations! Did you have the SH movement serviced? Is the date wheel gen spec direct fit?

My ST says hi

Lets hear it for the lugholes :drinks_cheers:

ps: don't mind the misaligned DW still working on it:rolleyes:

Thanks, yours looks good as well! Specs?

Yes the movement was serviced and the disc is gen, so straight fit without any modifications...

Man very nice! Your piece is perfect you've went with the right movement I should have went with the SH but still have cold feet with the rumours of complications with that movement. I went with Sillita SW200 I went back and forth a while!

Specs are:

ST full case set / mid case, bezel assembly, and caseback.
I reshaped the case a bit (mostly crown guards top and bottom) rebrushed the lugs and set in some chamfers.

Gen Sillita SW200 movement
Gen dial (swiss made superluminova)
Gen date wheel (closed 6&9)
Gen insert (superluminova)
Gen crown (704 monoblock)
Gen crystal and gasket (no LEC or AR)
BP sea-dweller tall post hands
HR tall post seconds hand (temporary)
TC V6 bracelet and clasp

I have an H4 pinions set waiting to come in but can not find satisfactory eta sub hands!

cheers mate I also really like your pepsi vintage veit. gmt you've built

That’s pretty nice. I like the idea of sending it directly to JMB for engraving. Saves a step in the process. My 16800 uses a JF16610 case with lug holes but it would be nice to have the engravings also.

How is everyone sourcing the Startime case? Do you all have accounts there or do you just reach out to a modder who has an account? And is it an actual 16800 case set which would accept a gen 3035, or is it a 16610 case set that would take a gen 3135?

Not sure, my guess would be a 16610 case, as I fitted a 3135. But 3035 should also fit... I have an ST account. You can just register, but after you register you must order within 14 days or they will delete your account.

Great job! I am building a similar build but with a TC base and agree 100% about the open 6/9 DW being one of the more difficult parts to find. Enjoy the watch man
