Explorer 5500

hi, for a while now i have the idea to build a 5500 explorer. I thought about starting with a 1500 date case, yuki explorer 5500 dial and eta 2836 movement, wso bracelet.
have any of you carried out this project? tips? alternatives to 1500 case?

That sounds like a good recipe Are you using a gen case set?

Ideally you should be using a 5500 or 1002 case since the 1500 has a different lug shape. Also the 1500 bezel isn't the same as the 1002/5500 bezel, so the crystals wont be interchangeable unless you modify it. Lastly, from my understanding a 2836 isn't ideal for this build, you should be looking at a 2824 or 2840 (low beat) for a better stem alignment.

+1 to Dan's comment above. 5500 case + 2824/2840 is the way to go. You probably won't find a Tropic crystal that fits the 1500 case perfectly, so then you're stuck trying to sand the cyclops off.

If you don't already have a 5500 case set. I recommend a 1002 case. They're cheaper than the 5500 but will have the same shape.
