Hi everyone,

Been in the forums for awhile now but don't have much exposure with Vintage watches. Can anyone recommend a good platform for a vintage daytona?

Thanks!

You need to find an old DW 6263 or 6265 case. There’s two versions. They come with the “mystery movement” but you can swap in a v23 or v72 same as what Rolex used. That’s your best option unless you want to go with a $1500 Phong case. Depends on your budget.

In my parent's basement
Phong cases only take gen valjoux movements. Vietnamese cases which are just unfinished phong cases are available from various dealers. I have a few on hand but its hard and expensive to source a good v72

Hi - cartel is the cheapest path (but it is not simple).
You can find cheaper cases at 650 USD - I am in the same boat as you are and just posted question regarding cases for Daytona build!!

If you really love the 4 digit daytona go the full way and build it valjoux based. Long and certainly not a cheap journey but worth every cent!

Yes but where do you source the cases from? Phong or Ndtrading?

This is an expensive watch to build but agree it’s worth it in the end. I went with the v23 in my DW years ago. One day I would like to build a Phong v72.

Does anyone make cases like the old DW sorta price range? Sead apparently can’t get the old versions with the Venus movements and the Lamania versions are even older. The 7750 models are just way way too thick. Does anyone know where to get a decent proper thickness case build a 6263 or a good base watch to mod? Looking to build something for about $500-750 maybe. Get a base watch for $200-300, add a better dial and crystal, Gen crown etc. But it’s gotta look right. Asymmetrical pushers and close to the proper thickness... someone needs to find David Wong and find out where he got his cases and movements from. Is he still on eBay??

I handled a DW (or stated as such). Case was pretty much the same as many cartel lemania daytonas I worked on tbh.

The DW’s seem to be long gone. I’ve got my DW6265 with v23 and I love it. I asked Sead about the cartel lemania daytonas and be said they aren’t available anymore. The new JK daytonas are about twice as thick as they should be... do you have a source for the lemania daytonas?

I thought JKF = Cartel

Dizzy JKF Daytona looks a lot similar to cartel, if not the same. Are you positive they are different watches ?
