Venus 75 and ST19... what are the differences?

To the manual rewind movement geeks...

I have been looking on this forum (and other) for a relatively long time and still I am unable to get to definite answer:

Are the ST19 and Venus 75 the same thing???

(One TD said yes the other said no)

St19 is the chinese seagull copy of the genuine venus mvt....its a very good quality mvt

Yes... but I would therefore assume the rep advertised as using a Venus 75 movement to be effectively using a ST19? E.g JKF vintage Daytona reps?

Seagull bought the tooling machinery used to build the V175, and they call the movement they built using that machinery the ST19. It's the ST19 that's used in reps that are advertised as having a Venus 75/175.
