Should have open 6/9 DWO.

Fantastic build. Those cases are very rare, I have one on my 16803.

Thanks! I would love to see pics of your 16803 build

Actually, all aftermarket open 6/9 DWO have flaws. So i went for a TC DWO because it can correspond to a genuine 16800 with closed 6/9 service date disc; e.g. like these genuine examples from below:

pompompurin The build is a ST 3035 case, in a little rough shape, a genuine 16803 blurple dial, eta 2836, TC hands, ST solid 18k bezel, gen 295c, open 6/9 DWO. A fair deal of money went into this one!

sorry for late reply but that is so elegant! Those TC hands are perfect and adds the final finishing touches to the watch. Finding decent ETA sub hand are hard and looking at your purplish dial makes me smile :D

I just finished my franken 16800 and I absolutely love it. It’s my favourite watch right now. I used a Gen Matt dial and a JF16610 with lug holes. So cool

Those gen matte dials are getting harder to come by. I was considering to use a matte 16800 dial as well, but I can't get around the idea of chopping the dial feet off and mounting it onto a 2834-2 movement.

When you installed the gen 16800 matte dial, did you have to shorten the dial feet a little in order for the dial to sit in a 3135 movement?

Got pics of your beauty? I need some teaser pics to motivate me for the 16800 build lol

I bought my dial about 5 years ago when nobody wanted them. I knew it was a watch I always wanted to build but I was just waiting for the right shallow rehaut case because the 16610 case is not correct. The JF case is pretty close. The old “noobmariner” case is also good if you ever come across one. These Matt dials are a lot of money now. This one has the SH3135 inside. It’s one I’ll never sell. Mostly because of the value of the dial, but also because it’s the ultimate submariner and I love it.

sexy build! I love the matching lume and i am happy to see that you drilled lug holes into the case.

i have another spare gen 16800 dial and I was thinking of building another 16800. To do that, i am considering to obtain a cheap BP 16610 2824-2 and reduce the rehaut height by machining the movement cavity internally.

I’m not familiar with the BP sub. That sounds like a lot of work. I’d have to see the rehaut. Most rep 16610’s aren’t deep enough unless you get an MBW or TC. This JF 16610 was actually about right. The old noobmariner would be perfect but I haven’t seen one in years. Lug holes are a necessity for a 16800.

You can can see the rehaut dept diff between my JF 16800 and my MBW 16610. The MBW rehaut is correct 16610 depth and you can see how shallow the JF case is in comparison.

JF shallow 16610 case. This is the v1 with shaved rehaut engraving.
Incorrect for 16610 but close to the 16800 case

MBW correct 16610 depth
