Back in the BC club after a very long time without one.

Your watch looks lovely - I was curious what sort of crystal you have on? I have the same base watch with the Silix case and currently have a tropic 21 from Sternkreuz, but I would love that sort of high, high protruding crystal look instead.

Additionally, how were you able to brass the bezel? I’ve been trying to temper mine in a toaster oven and it’s only a very light straw yellow color, not sure if you’re plating it in some way. Thanks!

It is a Tropic 39 crystal.

The Bezel: I lightly sanded it. Then hit it with that mini blow torch, holding it with a tweezers. Then I baked it in the oven for a little.

So many nice big crowns!

I like to build one and looking for a case to modify. Silex once had it () but the store doesn't work anymore. Can someone please recommend a shop/user source to buy a case?

I just emailed them with a picture of the case I was interested in and they replied within a few days.

Yesterday I got my Silix case for a 6538 and I just put everything together. The case is very hight so that I turned off some of the bottom with the lathe. Just 1.5 mm - and it is still very hight.

Current build:
  • Silix case 6538
  • Silix insert and bezel
  • Big Crown from raffel
  • Dial and gold hands from raffel
  • Swiss ETA 2836 movement
What I might still do:
  • Bleaching the insert
  • changing the plexi to a flat pexi
  • thrilling bigger holes for bracelet mount
What I don't like and maybe you can help:
The position of the crown is not in the middle. It is close to the botton. Are there other cases that have a more-in-the-middle position?

Here are some pictures:
