Yes a gen dial is superior in many, many ways but also expensive. It’s my first try on a DD dial, but I’ve got more than 100 dials under my belt so that experience might come in handy [emoji16]

I have only owned and sold a bunch (10 maybe) of genuine daydate dials so in that sense my experience is rather limited to identifying them as genuine and their quality.

This silver daydate dial I dont have any plans for and its not worth as much as the darker colors because its the most common.

Please post some pictures of your craft on the DD dial and if you feel ready to modify a genuine dial you can let me know anytime :)

I got a genuine silver daydate dial with this sunburst pattern, maybe I will put it up for sale in parts section

Did you consider using a genuine one for this project?

Imo the whitegold markers, fine print and detailed window and daycutout all fall short on a fake dial

Please post pictures btw

As I'm far less experienced than Natas78 I'm not considering going the gen-way for the moment.

@Natas78 .... when will we see some pics of your modded purple sunburst Day-Date dial ?

First results printing my Illustrator file. I've still got some kinks to work out, but it's looking promising. Hopefully should be ready to post the final version here by next week depending on how much time I can find to work on this project.View attachment 107678

WOW !!! Really nice and cool project (though not perfect but I'm 100% certain I'll updgrade that).
Only "problem", if I may, is that you almost lost the "soleillé" guilloché pattern which is barely visible now.
Neverthless I LIKE (and liked too) that dial.

Pics hardly ever “catch” a sunburst pattern as well as it appears when you hold the watch, it is certainly still there. It’s a tiny 28mm dial so a lot is lost anyway. Don’t forget that a gen dial like this would set you back 500€ easy :) there’s a reason for that lol

I know !!!
and please be sure my purpose was definitely not do minimize the quality of your work

Possibly the finish of the purple coating, which seems to be gloss or semi-gloss, counteract with the sunburst pattern ... at least on the pics

I think the decal needs to have a matte clear coat put onto it as opposed to a gloss. Maybe a satin. This should help the sunburst pop more, since it will be the main reflection of light :) just an idea
