1680 Build Project - Looking for a US based moder with vintage sub knowledge

    Hello,

I'm hoping to put together a 1680 over the next few months, starting with a gen movement. My budget is between 3.5-6k.

The look I'm going for is a 1969 red sub on a 7206 rivet bracelet (inspiration picture attached below). I have a watchmaker building a 1530 and converting it into a 1570 now (my budget is consistent with him giving me a very good deal on the movement). I can source the historically correct parts on my own with little advice, so the majority of the work would be case reshaping/aging, installation, waterproofing, and likely some re-luming work done as well to match dial/hands.

My parts list so far is as follows:

Case: Ruby’s or MQ (serial should be between 1,900,000 and 2,225,000)

    Movement: 1530 converted to 1570

Date disk: eBay (gen, open 6 and 9)

    Dial: MQ (Mk1 meters first??**)

    Hands: MQ (gen, relumed)

Crystal: eBay (gen, pt no. 25-127)

    Gaskets: eBay

Bezel Insert: Crownartcustom (“Mk5 Skinny Font”)

    Bracelet: Ruby’s 7206 with 80 ELs

Below is the model taken from the 1680 example on Rolex's website:

I live in the Caribbean, but have a house in Georgia which I travel to a few times a year.

Please reply here or PM me if this project interests you!

    Many thanks,
    Alex
