Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a decent 6538 for my first rep. I don't really want to mod it as I'm not too sure how, so I'm hoping to find one that is decent out of the box. Where can I find a good model? Budget is about $500.

Thanks

These come sometimes up on M2M, although $500 is a tight budget.

Silix Prime, although not accurate still an option for the budget, parts can be upgraded and what not.

Hope this helps

My Silix budget 6538

Silix 6538 base
Reshaping and brassing of the bezel
Manodeoro gilt dial
Slay handset
HW sternkreuz plexi
Gen spec fat bar
Dg2813 mouvement
Aged stock insert

8mm Athaya crown soon installed, waiting for a 3,6 mm drill

The main issu is the lug holes which are to close to the edge on the last silix base, it miss matérial to make chanfreins.

Hi buddy ... no need to wait for a 3.6mm drill ... just call me
I already have 3.6 drill bits and M4x0.35 thread taps so everything you need to mod your case for the Athaya big crown tube ;) we could make all this next weekend

BTW ... chanfreins (French) = chamfers (English) :p

I ordered a new source of 6538 like case from Alix. There is a lot of job on the case to reach something decent but my fist idea is to compare it with my silix base. Made for nh35 with 28,5 mm dial, using skx007 bezel insert size. I'm going to test the 8mm rlx crown from Alix in the same time.

A 6538 is one of the most iconic Rolex watches on the planet. It's older than most members on this board. No 6538 "out of the box" looks even remotely like a real Rolex. Everyone of them has to be aged, at the very least, and the dial is -e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g on these puppies. If you want a Rolex "out of the box" without modification, there are plenty of more viable options out there.
Just my 2 cents.
