I have used the exact same method and compound and it does work very well. However, I would not recommend polishing your watch with the movement still in it. Those parts are very fragile and those dremels spin very fast. Its just not a good idea to have that much vibration going on with fragile insides still in them.

I understand your preocupation. but I do it with my watches and have no problem with any. Have you ever hit your watch on your wrist? any door ??

Do you think when you can a watch to China they don't hit the package ??

But nothing happens, get the movement out soon, no problem.
