I have a Canon EOS 7d with a 50mm 1.4 a 10-18mm and a 70-200,looking to buying an L series lens soon, but ....... It's a lot of cash and I'm deciding on which one so I don't want to dive in.

16-35 2.8 II hardly ever came off my 5d mkii.... 24-70 2.8 is rock solid as well... (Assuming you are looking for a zoom.

What do you shoot primarily?

The 100 2.8 is macro is surprisingly versatile for non macro (even portraits). With this hobby, I'm sure the macro would be a bonus as well

Thanks for your advice :)I do a lot of urban and street photography which is when I use the 10-18 general all round family pictures I usually use the kit lens or the nifty fifty, the 24-70 is the main one I've been looking at, I've read some reviews and it looks like a fantastic all round lens.

It's rock solid. And would fill a gap in your current selection. Although with the 7d crop factor the 16-35 May be more versatile for your needs. You can't go wrong with either option.

Hi, new here! I have been using Nikon since about 10 years ago:

Nikon D700
Nikon 24-70 f2.8 v1
Nikon AFD 85mm f1.8

I started with a D70s and a 18-55, upgraded to a DX 12-24mm F4 when I needed something wider. Paired that with a 35mm DX f1.8 and a 85mm AFD f1.8. After a few years I moved to a D300, when I outgrew the D70 and needed the pro controls for changing settings on the fly. After quite a number of years I realized I could use a 24-70 for 90% of what I shoot, so I sold the 12-24 and 35mm prime, got the D700 and 24-70 and have been good since.

edit: forgot to say, my travel camera is a nikon P300 P&S. Wanted something with some manual controls, that was a bit better in low light vs a cheap P&S

Fuji X100 S. Aware that it's a older model but it's served me very well.

Started out with film, then got a DSLR, now shooting on a compact mirrorless.
Love the thing.

35mm Lens is all you need!

I use a Canon 5DS R, Canon 80D, and Canon T5i body. I use Canon EF 100-400, and Canon EF 24-105 for my lenses.

That EF 24-105mm is probably the best lens I've ever purchased.
It's a very, very, very, very, very versatile and practical lens. It's great for many occasions, and the price was affordable because lots of people parted them from their kit.

It took me years to switch to digital from 35mm. Now it seems everyone is going mirrorless. I think I'll be shooting my Canon cameras for a long time. lol

Me too, i am going to stick with dslr for a while (if i am picking up photography again).
Besides, I recently realised that Canon L-lens prices have dropped a lot ever since the introduction of Canon's new mirrorless mount. So maybe it is good to stay for a while and enjoy affordable L lenses
