I'm using a Canon 40D
L series 17-40mm
L series 24-105mm
L series 100-400mm

Unfortunately none of these are really ideal for taking pictures of watches. But then again that's not what I got them for.

Canon 40d
Canon 17-55 f2.8 IS USM as main lense

No tripod (just a Gorilla), hence the shaky pics

Canon IXUS 100 as a backup.

Hey, hotshots--

How about posting some pics to go along with those setups? We want some pics to be jealous of. And if you don't post your watch pictures, I'll start posting pictures of my nephews instead. :)

Good exposures!
Nice WB too. Canons can sometimes be a little red, i don't know if you have found the same problem? Nikons not so bad so i have heard!

I have been using a Nikon D80 body with an 18-55 DX "kit" lens and an SB600 off the camera TTLi flash for photographing watches.

I don't have a macro lens and have been surprised at how well the 18-55 DX was able to do by cropping the images to get larger photos.

I just purchased the new Nikon D7000 body, 35mm, 50mm 85mm and 55-200mm Nikkor lenses and am looking for a macro lens.

I will see if that D7000 body and any of these lenses work better than my old combination of the D80 with a 18-55 DX lens.

Here are some photos taken with the D80 body set for Large picture size and Fine resolution and the inexpensive 18-55 DX lens.

Tigerwoods: I do hear from some people that the reds are very prominent. With the spaghetti shot up top, the sauce was coming out a little hot but all I did was pull back red saturation a little bit and boost yellows and greens to make the other colors pop.

My brother shoots Nikon.....no comment=)
