I started out wanting to buy a beater 30/30 that i could thrown in the truck and take around without worrying if it got stolen. What i ended up with is slightly different.

Started looking on gun auction sites for an old neglected rifle. And i found one. I really wasnt expecting to replace to buttstock and honestly if i knew how much work it would have been i might not have bought the rifle. I ended up buying a 1954 Marlin 336 in 30/30 caliber. She needs work.

Now the hard part. Any stock needs to be fitted to the receiver especially marlin stocks. they sell you a 95% stock.... unfortunately the other 5% seems to be the most tedious

after 2-3 hours of sanding to get the front stock on then blend the wood to the receiver.

But when it's done, it's gonna be beautiful. Love old lever actions. Great brush guns.

Buttstock fitting. I think this took me the most time. 4 hours of sanding and fitting then adding glass bedding the tangs.

That looks fantastic my friend. Right now my Henry .22 is my only Lever gun, looking for a nice 357 to pair with my revolvers.

What do you mean "without worrying if it got stolen"? Dude, that attitude sucks. If you can't be bothered securing a firearm correctly to ensure it is not stolen you shouldn't have any!

Its a truck gun. incase of emergencys requiring quick access. 90% of guns used in robberies are handguns no criminal can conceal this gun well enough to get close to someone. You aussies and your laws are hilarious

And you, sir are an accident waiting to happen.
Guns don't kill people, idiots kill people. What on earth is going to happen requiring access to a long arm so quickly you don't have time to undo a lock?

Dont get your panties in a wad, its currently sitting in my locked safe since its too nice to carry around and i keep my handgun in a lock box under the driver seat anchored to the seat post. I dont work in the country anymore. Also what would require access to a long arm? When you work by yourself in the middle of nowhere with dangerous animals cougars, snakes, coyotes anything that could pose a threat its nice to have a long gun handy. Also this gun is an older one.... notice no safety? :) accidents dont happen to well prepared and trained people.
