Yes I know that and that is very obvious.

I am asking about the legality of engraving a random serial number on any watch. Why would that be “illegal as fuck” as Jayalvin777 put it?

Engraving a random serial number on a watch and selling it on EBay would not result in listing being nuked and is not illegal.

Great thanks for the answer, now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

For anyone coming here from an internet search:

eBay’s hboylen (RWI ex-member voodoojar) may not have scammed anyone so far but he is using selling platforms such as eBay to sell replica watches where it is prohibited. He has listed his builds at least twice even after being asked to take it down. The repeated behavior shows a blatant lack of respect for the rules of any platform where he has chosen to advertise, buy, sell, or trade. It is advised not to do business with him.

Fantastic News, EBay has removed the listing.

I will continue to monitor his listings on EBay and report them.

Wonderful, but it may have something to do with the fact I reported the sale for using couinterfeit China made parts and also reported him for trying to sell outside of eBay.

Did you read my previous post, the one where I quoted you ? If not, then I suggest you read it and report him to eBay for attempting to solicit sales outside of their platform - they will close his account.

This is a small sample of the items voodoojar/hboylen has recently purchased on eBay:

Many used genuine Rolex parts - and a grand total of 22 Daytona Movement bridges for Calibre 4130 movements. He has enough parts there to scam for several hundreds of thousands of dollars if he's selling clone movements as genuine.

There's also some aftermarket pushers - these must be the ones he charges $100 to 'rework' on his lathe, even though they look better than the Chinese rep ones even before they've been 'reworked'.

BlueLineFarmer you have proof in your eBay massages that he is soliciting sales outside of eBay - report him and get his account shut down.

It wouldn't be illegal, unless you were to copy one of Rolex's random serial number onto an aftermarket case, which also had the Rolex logo etc - then that would be fraud, and Rolex would sue you.

I also reported him to EBay for the $118,008.50 scam watch and alerted Ebay of the messages he sent me asking me if I was interested in buying one of his Daytona offline of Ebay.

Nice detective work on what he has purchased on eBay with regard to 4130 Rolex movement parts and Daytona parts.

I will continue to monitor what he sells on eBay and report him again if starts to sell rep watches on eBay again.

He is quite the scammer.

Just think. Several people pleaded to keep this guy around here because they felt he had some skills. Sometimes you just gotta trust staff. We've been doing this for a long time.
It infuriates me that people cursed our name to save this guy. Shameful!

It is not illegal per se to engrave a serial number into a watch case, unless (1) said case has a trademark on it, or (2) the action is done with the intent to deceit.
That said, intent is difficult to prove before the fact. So a DA would only touch such a case once a sale has been initiated or completed where a buyer received such an item that was presented to them as an original.

voodoojar who is banned on RWI and who is hboylen on eBay was clearly trying to deceive a potential buyer by engraving a Rolex serial number on the case and saying the Daytona was gen.

In the above tripdog post you can see that hboylen on eBay who is voodoojar on RWI was buying non gen Rolex Daytona movement parts on eBay which he was most likely using the parts to scam buyers of his replica Daytona watches which he was portraying as gen.

Well, I don't know what the protocol would be on alerting other sites such as rg. I mention this because about a month ago I had a conversation with a member there with the same name. At that time, it was about helping me verify a franken PP Aquanaut. He was very helpful and informative. It went no further than that as I was later alerted that the watch I was after had some issues. Again, this was about a watch from another rg member. I was not offered anything (services, build, etc) by the vodoojar member there. However, would it be wise for staff to reach out the rg staff? If I was the member that spent over $3k on a "franken" PP Aquanaut I sure as hell would like to be notified about this and pray that those "gen" parts are actually genuine PP.

On a side note, I don't think any members here that were open-minded and mentioned potential innocence and forgiveness of vodoojar meant it as a anything negative towards staff. I think that because we enjoy this hobby and what RWI stands for, the sentiment was more of trying to think positive. At any case, it's pretty amazing to read the camaraderie that occurs when RWI members staff and non-staff team up to protect RWI and its members.

I just wanted to say briefly…If you’re willing and able to spend $3k on a rep watch with gen parts, you should be able to differentiate those genuine parts from their replica counterparts.

lol, you would think. Sure you would perform due diligence and what not, but sometimes something may slip by. I know enough about subs, djs and some pams but not much on Aquanauts. In fact I was looking at a post earlier on the parts sub about a gen PP rotor on a clone movement that got me interested. I was going to reach out the seller as it doesn't say if it was sold, and I guess I would say that the seller seems reputable and trustworthy... Not all members here have the intimate knowledge to differentiate between gen/rep parts.

Cheers.

A lot of staff across the fora would be aware of what is happening on each fora.
mysterio and wimpie007 are RG staff and keep abreast of what is happening here.
What we know our sister forum RWG.bz knows and vice versa.
We have legend who is on RWG.cc.

Rest assured if you fall foul of RWI then other fora are aware it is up to them to deal with their members as they see fit.

Apologies if it isn't the right place, but coincidentally there is an M2M sale with this exact scenario (aftermarket case engraved with gen Rolex serial number, papers obtained for this reason).

tripdog What would be the forum rules for the sale of this part?

It meets the criteria for a sale on RWI - it's an aftermarket case with gen parts and paper work that matches the serial number on the case. I would not consider the case to be sufficiently accurate to genuine for it to be passed off as genuine.
As to whether it's legal, then no, obviously not - it's copyright infringement, same as all replica watches infringe on copyright.

hillarious... I know you don't give a shit but I've treated every single person I've done business with here and frankly everywhere else with 100% honesty and respect.
You can see the eBay thing two ways. I'm either a scammer that literally spends decades doing watch-making to suddenly try to scam people on eBay with a crazy custom watches or I posted it to get some people outside of rep forum interested and try to find some new customer. Obviously two was a mistake but it doesn't mean I'm a scammer or a criminal.

100% honesty and respect?
Now tell me why you scam members that dont know how gen parts and good quality rep parts look like: https://forum.replica-watch.info/forum/rolex-tudor-replicas/10261775-help-with-molded-116500

Same shit whole of ex yu use it so no one is interested ??

Why are you even posting this here ? - This thread is about a specific member, it is not a thread about profiteering in general, so you getting upset here makes no sense.
