Brand new here. Just dipping my toe in the watch world and I building an st36 pilot watch. Just cased everything and after switch out the stem/crown.....I have a problem.
At first I thought I'd bungled the keyless works but after pulling the hands and dial I see that everything looks good and both the winding and time-setting mechanisms work with the movement out of the case. When I put it all back together, the stem won't lock in place (I can remove it by pulling straight out even after tightening down the keyless screw) and although I can wind the mainspring, I can't set the time. Is this a simple matter of me cutting the stem too short?
