Handwind issues with a2824/36?

Hey guys, first post here so feel free to gut me if I'm breaking rules.

It's commonly known that it's not a good idea to handwind gen ETA 2824s, the gears are made from softer metal, can warp (especially is poorly lubricated), and it will skip or completely shred the entire module after years of daily handwinding.

Do the asian 2824s do the same? Made from softer metal as per gen? I think with poor lubrication it should wear faster. What about the a2836?

I bought a damaged 114060 noob v8 with the a2836 and I'm debating if I should swap a seagull 2824 for $90 or a gen 2824 for $150.

If the current movement is A2836, you can’t use 2824 clone or gen. You’ll need to replace with another 2836. You can buy a gen Swiss Sellita for a little less than the ETA.

Aren't the 2824 and 2836 the same movement besides the day function?

The 2824 and 2836 are different in thickness and stem height.

Ah gotcha, thanks for the info. Is there a sellita equivalent of the 2836?

In my parent's basement
just buy an asian clone for $60 man, I've learned not to be so particular. a service on a swiss 2836 will cost the same as a new asian clone, and they last for a long time.

What did you end up doing? What was broken with your 2836?
