Why they put 2836-2 movement inside date only watches + tech question

Hello, i've got two questions:

I am wondering why many factories use the asian 2836-2 movement in date only watches like submariners, why not use 2824-2 instead?
the 99,8% of watches I see with 2836-2 movement are day-date watches.

The ETA 2836-2 is day-date movement and the 2824-2 is the date only version, it is a little thinner 4.6mm(2824-2) vs 5.05mm(2836-2) this mean you can't put 2824-2 movement inside 2836 case because the stem height is different, and maybe other reasons i'm not aware.

How i can tell the difference from 2836-2 and 2824-2 clone, two of my reps (one has 10 years!) don't have stamped/printed movements, got them for "2836-2" but at this point I am not sure what of what i have, should i take off the movement and measure the height? is there any other way to tell what clone it is?

thanks

The reason they use 2836 movements is because that is what fits in the case - they make the case to accept both a cheaper DG2813 movement and the more expensive clone movement - both have the same stem height.

Thanks,
but the accordling tech specs the dg2813 is 5.62mm thick versus 5,05mm of 2836-2.
If this difference is not relevant it means you can put a myota 8215 inside a 2836-2 case?

The DG2813 is a clone of the Miyota 8215, so yes, the Miyota will fit the case.

sorry for the off-topic, this means that miyota 8215 and 9015 have different stem height?

Hello,
so i've recently acquired a genuine swiss eta 2836, the problem is that it got day/date well, it is possible to "disable" day complication? I would like to put the movement inside a submariner.

thx

AFAIK the day complication does no harm as it is, so you could just install the movement into your sub and call it a day.

Yes, exactly. I have not done exactly this swap with a 2836-2 movement but I can’t think of any reason why the day disc would cause a problem under the dial.

Sorry last post didn't post correctly, I wish to swop my 2813 movement for a 2836 what I want to know will it fit the sub case that the 2813 was in? Will the stem fit the 2836 from the 2813? And can you send a link where to get hands and sub face that will fit the movement? Or will the 2813 face and hands fit? Also will the date font on the date wheel be correct to the sub? Or will I need a new date wheel with correct font? Thanks all in advance
