    Cheers for this. Still seems to be conflicting advice as to whether the stem should be in the time setting or winding mode.

                  Hi ,can anybody confirm how to remove steam?
                  in winding position
                  or
                  setting position ?

                  I have a 2824 and safe steam remove is in setting position. Please help, I do not want ot f.... up movement.

                      If the stem doesn't reinsert is it possible to fix? I think I've messed the keyless.

                        Doesn't reinsert how? Like it's completely stuck (as if you were pushing against a wall) or it goes it but doesn't lock? Or something else entirely?
