Can a 1680 dial fit a JF16610 w/ SH3135?

I have a nice 1680 dial that I would love to turn in to a 16800 as it is my fav of all rolexes. However, I’m told that JF is made to gen specs which means the dial is roughly 27.3mm while 1680 is 26.5mm. Is there a way to fit the 1680 dial in to the 16610 case? I would think that the movement not needing a movement ring would let it sit right in the center and with barely a 1mm of space being noticeable but I’m still unsure of it. If it doesn’t fit, the JF may end up being a C&R but I really want to make this work.

Any ideas? Suggestions?

Thanks

If anyone knows, its going to be tripdog .

Good choice on the 16800, though I'm guessing your desire to slot a 1680 dial in means that you're a matte dial fan. Boo!

Ahh...a 16800. Remember the 16800 used a 3035 and had a shallow rehault, and hollow endlinks. Mine says hi.....my midcase is a startime 3035.

With apologies to OP for the now concluded thread hijack - that watch looks delicious.

Yea. Always loved the matte dial 16800. Plus, I already have a lovely dial to put in it. The only problem is it’s a red sub dial which is not period correct but at this point, I don’t really care. lol. It’s a great looking dial there I got at a great price.

If it doesn’t work on the JF16610, then I’ll just stick it in a 1680 case where I would have to decide on wherever to shave the dial by .5mm or shave the case in a lathe .5mm. The case would be the better option so I don’t damage the dial to stick it in a cartel case.

I really hope it works out on the 16610. It’s about a .7mm of dial that would be missing. Since most dials have a little bit of wiggle room when it goes on the dial, it should hopefully work since there won’t be a movement ring.

I just wish I had a confirmation from someone who’s done this mod.

Of course, if it doesn’t work out with the matte dial, I can just relume the markers on the JF to a yellowish color and that would be an ok 16800. It just won’t be the 16800 I really want.

Also have a watch dealer on the lookout for a gen 16800 with papers at a decent price so one way or another, I’m getting a damn 16800 matte dial!

Even if it fits, the 1680 dial will look really odd in a JF ase with a wider rehaut
I believe Yuki sells replica 16800 dial. Perhaps email them.
As for the remainder 1680 dial, maybe buy a cartel 1680 (21j version) for around $150 usd and put your dial in

Nope....it will not work and / or will look odd.

Get / find a ST3035 case to do a proper 16800 build.

Or, use a JF 16610 , knowingly aware, that the rehaut is deeper. You need a matte dial which is essentially a 1680 dial... MQ has them ... Or I actually can sell you mine.

Or,.get a Viet case or a Phong case , both set to specs for gen and build a 1680...

Or, get another case like a MWB and get the dial fit to it with sizing the dial and cutting the dial feet to fit an ETA movement.

Cheers s!

Yea, I got a JF with a serviced movement. Im just waiting for JMB to accept new work again to get the lug holes drilled and MQ has a 16800 dial ready for me with gen spec size and dial feet once I can get the funds to buy it.

Which one do you have?
