Hey all, I got my first manual wind rep yesterday and wound it up just as one usually would.
It was fairly easy to wind and once I hit some resistance I stopped winding.

Now this morning I tried winding it again but the crown will only let me turn a millimetre or two (without me forcing it) and then just will roll back that tiny bit.
is this normal?

I don't want to wind it any further than it will let me because I'm afraid I'll break something, but I feel like after a day I should be able to top it up again, right?

Thanks

Is the watch running okay?
If so leave it for a few days. if it runs down and stops..rewind it and count how many seconds it takes to feel that same resistance.. go a bit less next time.

Steve nailed it. ✅

Don't wind it all the way, give the mainspring a bit of leeway. If you go to the end too often, it can lead to bigger problems: the mainspring can tear. How do you know that the mainspring has snapped? The watch can be wound up to infinity.
