RWG SOFTWARE UPGRADE STATUS THREAD

Hi guys,

This thread is just to keep you informed about RWG's downtime. I will be updating it with developments as the work proceeds over the next few days.

For now, the board has just been taken offline and I'm doing the final preparatory work prior to the first (and most complicated) phase of the migration. I will update this post as and when I have something to report. Thanks to RWI for their hospitality - try not to make too much of a mess, guys

STATUS:
Thurs 10th. 08.30 GMT: RWG now offline.

UPDATE Thurs 10th 16.10:
Good progress being made. We're at least a day ahead of where we expected to be at this point. One serious glitch so far, but we're working around it. Not counting any chickens just yet, but we shall see...

UPDATE Friday 11th 08:17
Yesterday was a looong day (19 hours of work), but it went VERY well, with relatively few glitches (all of which we can work around). We're way ahead of where we expected to be at this point. The new software is installed and running smoothly. Today we'll be installing some of the basic extras that we need and generally configuring stuff while we wait for the database to be re-indexed (which is going to take a while).

UPDATE Friday 11th 11:40
I'm kinda waiting for the other shoe to drop. No, we haven't gotten everything done yet and yes, the board is slow and a bit glitchy while we wait for the database to be re-indexed (which is likely to take several days). But... most of the important stuff is done. And it works...

Give us a couple more hours for some testing, but I think we'll be back up by the end of today providing nothing breaks in the meantime. Watch this space....

Okay guys, were' back - several days earlier than expected. There are going to be some glitches and the board will be a little slow for a while, but it's working well enough to let you lot back in. :|D

It's stated on their website that this update will take a few days. I doubt it'll be done anytime soon since they'll need to bug test it a little before putting it up again after a software update to make sure it doesn't immediately crash or something.

Greg asked me and my team to help out. We took everything apart....we ended up with some extra parts after we were done though.......... Now Greg has to go and do things right.
