For some reason, the date window on the explorer 1 immediately made me think of Seiko.

Why do Rolex insist on putting that hideous cyclops on models that never had them before.

What's next? The Daytona?

I agree. They f*****d up the SD43 adding the cyclops. The SD's identity was always the thicker Sub without the cyclops.
Though I do I welcome a Date to the Daytona, but definitely without the cyclops.

Also, the Exp1 with a datewheel and cyclops will never happen. That's pretty much a Datejust - 116200.

One more comment - if you squint at the above ExpII rendering, it very closely resembles the 116710LN. Maybe that's why Rolex discontinued the Black bezel GMT, to make room for the ExpII with black ceramic bezel.

They will never add a date without a cyclops unfortunately.

Took a few snapshots of the releases from R website.

Looks like two tone Explorer was correct, but weird.
New movement for Explorer II.
Meteorite Daytona.
Date just dial variants.
Lots of diamonds.

Not my favorite releases at all.

Also, definitely wasn’t ready to see this.
I love the Jubilee, not sure how I feel about this option yet.

Only "release" I like this year is having the Pepsi on Oyster. Which means VSF will have an Oyster option available when they release their rep of it.

Getting rid of a 39mm Explorer 1 is insane IMO. Wtf?

At least Explorer II stays away from ceramic bezel, good thing.

Quite happy with the explorer, more true to form now. Everything else is either meh or feels low-effort (daytona, especially explorer wth???). Happier with the silver tudor, can't wait for that to be repped. I didn't like the patination in the old black bb58.

Though this rolex release is a slap in the face of many gen owners, those with:
1. explorer 2 42mm old version
2. white gold BLRO - the only one to have an oyster bracelet before
3. old 36mm explorer 1
4. batman

I agree, discontinuing the 39mm Explorer 1 seems mad. Great size and strange they have now stuck with the 36 only for that model.
