It's a BP bro. Trusty's people are frequently wrong. Plus it's CNY, the janitor is handling emails.

Send an email to Tim (Fat Panda). I posted a video of the one he got me earlier in this thread. It's the same watch.

Is this stock BP? The dw font looks good man.

I've been inspired by you and went to order one, will update the thread with a few pics when QC and the watch comes in

Not sure which pic you are referring to bro. I do swap DWOs around a lot, usually putting in the best one I have lying around.

Guys, my 15 yo baby is getting sent away today to my watchmaker.

I am doing the DW swap and hand reset for sure. After hearing opinions on the crystal height, I may leave the stock rep crystal alone.

My watchmaker made a great point that maybe it's best to preserve the original rep parts to this museum piece. I am still good with the DW swap because the new DW I am replacing it with came from the man Eddie himself 15 years ago lol. I can't believe I was able to find it in my drawer after all these years haha.

I would love to see an Explorer II from VSF. Might be wishful thinking though.

Doubtful VSF will make any 5 digit models bro. A new player in the 6 digit Exp II field is always welcome though. BP 216570 is pretty good. Noob has gone off the rails - first they had grey lume because of black paint in the marker wells, their fix was to make the marker surrounds silver. Nice. JF has a crooked 2 in the 12 bezel marker, otherwise not too bad with a 2836 ICHS.

Hi mate, do you know if (this) your 16570 model (BP?) is gen spec to receive a VR 3186 movement with possible gen dial hands bezel crystal crown? I've been looking around for a gen spec 16570 build.

Cheers!

KJ2020 idk what it is for me with the newer Explorer2s. Maybe it's the orange? Also even the 4 digit older models too. I seem to be very biased towards 16570 haha.

Yep the 16570's will always be special to me too. It was my first gen Rolex. Nothing wrong with knowing what you like and making it right. For me Rolexes are like Pokemon, gotta catch "em all haha.

No 5 digit GMT or EXP II factory rep case is gen-spec to fit a gen or rep 3185/6 movement bro. Vietnam cases yes but not Chinese.

People have done it though, more often with Noob 5 digit cases than BP. Some modding is usually needed, some case machining, custom movement holder, tube position raised, etc.

Fitting a gen dial can be hit or miss and maybe not possible depending on the case. Gen dials are 27.3mm. I used an old BP 16570 dial that had a defect to practice DIY dial shaving and its currently 27.4mm. It falls through the rehaut on every rep case I've ever put it in to test fit.

There is a very nice Noob 16570 Franken posted earlier in this thread.

Thanks for the info mate. Now I can narrow down my options further.

A quick update, guys!

My watchmaker hanski was able to reset the hands, raise the crystal by replacing rep gasket (2.15mm) with gen gasket (2.7mm) and replace the DW.

The movement had some issues with loose tube and GMT wheel but he was able to work around them (at least for now). No more hour hand running behind by 1 increment.

Also he confirmed the movement is Gen Swiss 2824 with GMT module added (not gen), as stated and advertised by the legend himself Eddie Lee.

Regardless of the accuracy to gen, I wanted the crystal raised and now it's sitting probably about 1.3mm to 1.4mm above the bezel, if I did the math right. I think this looks so much better than before. Thinner and less bold DW also makes a huge difference, imo.

Some pics! - picture credit hanski

Very cool but can i ask why? do you like it more raised?

I think the rep I have has shallower rehaut. I remember going to a jewelry store and seeing gen back in 2007 or 2008. Two flaws that I immediately noticed on my rep were terrible DW and the dial to the crystal distance. Hard to describe this in words but gen seemed to have more height from the dial to the crystal vs the rep that I own.
