New ROF Factory GMTs - Please share your thoughts

Finally got my QC photos tonight. Approved so I can get the watch to ship before Chinese New Year kicks in and so a review for you guys. They’re not “perfect”, but good enough for me!

My original thoughts:

Decent transition spots on the bezel. Speed bumps could be better. Colors don’t seem too bad based on the lighting. Curious to see if the red deepens in darker lighting when I have it in hand. Hoping the bezel assembly is close to GEN/ARF.

Here’s a comparison photo I did with my QC and a Gen Pepsi:

Datewheel is not as good as other VR datewheels that I own - easy fix.

Crystal looks a little better than I expected - has nice halo in some photos, but plan on replacing with a Gen anyway. Can see some “cloudiness” in some photos. Need it in hand to examine it better (BH, etc).

Bracelet and clasp will need the watch in hand for full review. Clasp look average to me, could have better closure (less gaps, better fit, better finish).

SEL’s look decent, has a slight recess and doesn’t have a huge gap between bracelet and lugs. Again, need in hand for better idea.

Dial markers seem alright (rounded). Font could be better (in particular the “L” in Rolex). Hands aren’t that great, but they’ll work for me (lume is too thick on hour and minute hands)

Overall doesn’t seem like a bad choice in my opinion! Excited to get it in hand.

That's definitely a VRF Max insert. Nice rehaut on the case too, much better than my VRF Pepsi.

Get to me the QC pic, I post them so you can get an idea, I know I will be of help. Overall it seems like a good product.
For now I'm satisfied.
(Perhaps the only problem is the date window, the numbers are shifted too high)

Agreed on the transition points, speedbumps look good to me! They are there but must be hard to see at normal view without magnification.
Agreed on the dial font and yes that L looks way different! Good pickup!
I like the bezel insert colours. The gen colours may be slightly richer. I prefer the brighter red of the gen MKI and this insert over the brown-red MKII-III of the gen and the brown of the Noob.
With the VR movement I think this is a nice pick up for the Pepsi fan! I am more of a BLNR fan, wear my ICHS Noob from last year quite often, still on the fence on the ARF BLNR or maybe this one, or hold out for the supposedly "coming soon" VSF .....

Honestly, I'd think for the same reason the gens aren't as popular as the Pepsi. Rep factories tend to make the more popular models because those would sell the most.

I still think this is a solid choice. It's arguably on par or slightly better in some respects than GMF, Noob, and even VRF. ROF is one of the first to get the serial number placements *almost* perfect, and the rest of the rehaut engravings are reminiscent of Noob's once bulletproof alignment perfection.

I think the hands are fine, don't forget this is a 116719, not a 126710 and there are some minor deviations in hands sizes even within the same model and between different models.

Also there are many slightly different dial fonts and serif nuances among and between models. It's probable ROF modeled their dial exactly after an existing gen or digital dial they found.

I would much prefer the hands you got than the 2nd batch of VRF hands (on left).

Your sample looks as good as you could hope for. Congrats!

Everyone's interested in the color transitions, while I'm over here trying to decide which LN to pick up. LOL.

I feel like the bezel on the ROF might be better but VRF might have the better crystal.

Get the ROF and then put a gen/prof/clark crystal. The ROF case/rehaut is better in all aspects compared to the VRF

Thanks for the advice, and you make points. I'm leaning ROF currently. CNY dictates that I won't be placing an order quite yet. By then, some of you guys will have their Pepsi's in hand. The GMT market is turning into the submariner market. Almost spoiled for choice, especially with rumors or ZZF and maybe VSF entering the mix.

Might end up waiting a while, but I’m still waiting for VSF to come out with a GMT. IMO their sub (with the fixed rehaut) is the best OOB sub rep. I’m really interested in how they do the Pepsi or Batman colors/transitions

Just noticed that Noob makes two different colored Pepsi inserts...


The WG/Oyster rep has a noticeably lighter shade of red while the SS/Jub's red looks more dark brown.... going to have to make sure my TD gets the brighter red version
