Anti-reflective coating.

The new Submariner and Submariner Date models feature an anti-reflective coating on the crystal preventing glare. This is the first time that a Submariner model has this on the crystal.

fatarms described this best. AR on the inside does not really reduce glare - light will bounce off outside of the crystal the same as it always did. It makes the dial more legible by reducing the reflection of the dial, hands and marker back onto itself from the inside of the crystal.

This isn't a scientific analysis by any measure, but you can see the difference clearly - the Sinn 103, Left has 2 x AR on the outside, The Sinn UX has AR on the inside, and the VSF on the end. The reflection of the lamp is bigger on the VSF simply because is was closer to the light. I only noticed that when I made the comp and I don't have time to photograph and comp it again.

Edit - a detailed comparison between the UX and the VSF is not useful. The UX has a matt dial and hands and is filled with oil.

Here we can see it is nearly to gen specification.
Only the thickness is a bit more ( I have the foil on the caseback)

Can't speak for the VSF 126610, because I don't have it with me yet.

But, my VSF Yachtmaster 42mm has a reaaly nice crystal, with nice AR.
My ARF Submariner V3 reflects the hour markers a lot more - the light hits the markets, reflect them on the underside of the crystal and then bouce to the glossy dial, creating this effect.

The Yachtmaster 42 is much better in this regard (my VSF YM 42)

I'm guessing that the 126610 will have a similar treatment to it's crystal...
