Change of calibre on Tudor Black Bay Bronze Bucherer edition Blue with A2824-2

Hello to all,

I soon will hopefully be a proud owner of a Tudor Black Bay Bronze XF which runs on an Asian 2824-2 25J Automatic Movement at 28800vph. As far as I know the Asian and the ETA 2824-2 are compatible so that I can change the movement. Background is that I still have an ETA 2824-2 chronometer and want to mod it into a watch. Why not the Tudor BBB.

That brings me to the first question: since the ETA has a date ring but the Tudor no window, is that a problem? If so, what do I have to do to avoid problems? Are there any other problems while changing an Asian into an Swiss original 2824-2, i.e. the hands or the dial adjustment?

Since the Gen Tudor movement MT5601 has a power reserve of 70 hours and the ETA 2824-2 only of 40 hours I was also wondering if I can put a Hamilton H-10 into the Tudor. It's as good as the 2824-2 in chronometer version but runs for 80 hours. Since the H-10 is based on the 2824 I was hoping that there shouldn't be any problem either. Is this correct?

Of course I will not do the modding myself but will ask my watchsmith. But it's always good to be well informed and to know the parts necessary for a movement change and be sure that they are at hand.

Thanks for any advice.

To remove the date from a 2824 just take the date wheel off. You can go one step further and change the yoke to a 2 position yoke from a 2801. (Eta part num 445/1157).

The powermatic I think runs at 3hz to get the 80hrs. You'd be better just staying with the 40hr power reserve of the ETA 2824 as the frequency is correct.

Dial feet and hands sizes will be the same between the whole family so no issues there.

You could technical just leave the date wheel on and put the dial over it won't hurt anything the dial sets flat anyways on a date what just with a viewing window.

True, it only runs with 21.600. But the different frequency doesn't do no harm or changes anything in the modding process? The main difference is the movement of the second hand, right?

The seconds hand will always take 1 minute to circle the dial, indeed.
It's just the precision/finesse of the ticking that will change.
