16610LV upgrade, from TC to new JF/ARF 904L - is it worth?

Hi,

Actually I own a nice TC v6 LV that I got slightly franken over the years (gen crystal, crown, tube, clickspring and friction, + gen eta 2824 with H4 cannon pinion mod) but I can’t decide if it’s worth to upgrade to the new 16610 904L just released by JF/ARF.

I already had this doubt when the first JF16610 came out, now the use of 904 steel is really tempting me.

What do you suggest?

The ARF is still some weeks away from actually being available, so nobody really knows yet how good (or not) it will be.

The upside seems to be that by a few relatively small mods (crystal, drop in a VR3135 etc.) it SHOULD be a great rep. Time will tell....

A TC V6 is also a great rep!

Thank you, I wasn’t expecting such a consistent support in favor of TC

Which other improvements would you suggest then? I’d like to fit:

-a new bezel, but the PAv2 seems almost impossible to find
-a new insert, but gen(s) are rare and $$$
-a new bracelet, for a better fit of the SELs

No one can tell the difference between 904L and 316L so what's the point of spending the extra money?
I like my TC 93250 bracelet just fine and it fits well. Don't know if with a little tweaking if you could get the SELs to look better. You mention the bezel insert and that's the only mod that I think might be worthwhile if you can find one for a reasonable price.
I put a SH3135 in my TC and had it serviced, but if you have a swiss 2824-2 in yours, I'd just as well leave it alone. No one knows how long these 3135 clones will hold up.
