This is the first proper rep of the Skydweller and if it is a success then it's only going to get better from here on out.
Solution is to get both and decide once you have them in front of you. You can always sell the one you don’t want to keep.

something weird about the black dial, it seems to have a sunburst effect on the dial?, i think the gen is flat but not sure.

This casts aside any fears of the blue dial not having a nice sunburst. What a beautiful blue!
The black dial does indeed also exhibit a sunburst. I've never seen that on a black dial gen, need to look at some more pics.

For sure the black dial ON STEEL MODEL does have sunburst,dont know for two tone or others but steel with black dial have sunburst like datejust

The bezel rotates to move the month indicator.
Regarding crown functions, it works like a 2836 ICHS.
Crown 1 - winding
Crown 2 - Quickset date (clockwise)
Crown 2 - GMT wheel set (anti-clockwise)
Crown 3 - Time setting
The GMT wheel setting in crown position 2 is continuous (no discrete steps) which can be a blessing or a curse. I prefer it this way because you have unlimited control over exactly where it is set, unlike a 2836 ICHS GMT hand which jumps only to specific points 1 hour apart dictated by the click spring.
However it can be a little frustrating to set the Sky-D 24 hour wheel exactly where you want it because there is a little lag in the gears so it can shift a little when you push the crown in and the wheel can lag a little til the gears catch after you've reset it. At times I have taken 8 or 10 attempts to bracket my positioning of the wheel before it stayed working the way I wanted it to. Once it is set, it's best to leave it alone.

at least for me 904 is more important the lowbeat. but also the blue sunburst is more important than 904....i dont think they've accurately repped the blue

This is really impressive. Incredibly impressive compared to what I have seen of the skydweller replicas so far. What a complicated movement to have to replicate. What a complicated movement to have to replicate. Sunburst looks really incredibly good. Need more wrist shots!!
